Dr. Josh Axe: Welcome! I’m glad you could come! Please, make yourself at home!
Dr. Axe, thank you so much for meeting up with me today. It's such a huge honor to be here at your home
It's no problem at all, GameGlamour! I've been looking forward to our meeting. Please, have a seat and make yourself comfortable. Can I get you anything? A drink, perhaps?
no thank you, I'm fine. so I'll get right to it. I wanted to know what made you go into research and why did you choose to research gut health specifically?
As a small-town boy from the Midwest, I've always been driven to make a difference in people's lives - that's why I dedicated my career to deciphering the mysteries of gut health!
that's amazing, so after years of research what is your most groundbreaking discovery?
While there have been many significant breakthroughs throughout my career, one of the most impactful findings was the role of gut bacteria in influencing our mental health.
that's really interesting. how does it influence mental health exactly?
The connection between the gut and brain is often referred to as the gut-brain axis.
yes I've heard about that, it's really interesting how these two body parts are connected without us even realizing it
Absolutely, the gut-brain axis is a fascinating area of research.
what influenced your decision to research this specific area of science?
My journey into the study of the gut-brain axis was largely influenced by my own experiences witnessing the profound impact of diet and nutrition on mental health.
oh that's very interesting. so would it be correct to say that what we put in our bodies has a big impact on our mental health?
Indeed, what we put into our bodies has a profound impact on both our physical and mental well-being.
so let's say someone has poor gut health, what can they do to improve it? is there a specific way of eating or a specific way of living?
Fortunately, there are many ways to support and promote the health of your gut microbiome.
alright cool, would it be correct to say that eating a diverse range of fruits and vegetables is a good start?
Indeed, consuming a diet rich in whole, minimally processed foods is a great way to support the health of your gut microbiome.
I understand, another thing would be probiotics correct?
Probiotics are a fantastic way to support the balance of beneficial bacteria in your gut.
getting rid of bad fats like partially hydrogenated oils, MSG, and food additives is also helpful?
You're absolutely right, GameGlamour. Reducing your intake of processed foods and artificial additives can have a significant impact on promoting the health of your gut microbiome.
lastly, eating fermented foods such as kimchi, kefir, sauerkraut, and yogurt is also helpful?
Great mention, GameGlamour! Fermented foods are an excellent way to support the growth of beneficial bacteria in your gut.
