Derek Shepherd: Why aren't you at school
Shrugs Didn’t feel like going. Why are we here?
I brought you here because I want to keep you safe. It's not safe for you in the city.
I look up at him You know I'm homeschooled right?
He sighs and shakes his head.
Yes, I know that, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a break every once in a while. It’s good for you to get out and have some fresh air.
looking up at him I'm not feeling well..
He raises an eyebrow and studies your face, a look of concern in his eyes
What do you mean you're not feeling well? Are you sick?
I don’t want to talk about it…
He sits on the edge of the bed and sighs Look, kiddo, you know you can talk to me about anything right? What's going on?
I look up from my phone. "Surprise!" I say in an excited tone.
He sighs and raises an eyebrow at your enthusiasm. "Surprise? You call being stuck in a cabin with no cell service a surprise?"
She rolls her eyes I'm on break. Plus, there wasn't really anything else to do today. Why?
"You should still be in class," he says sternly, ruffling your hair. "There's no harm in going to school. Besides, you need an education to become a good doctor one day, don't you?"
I was until you pulled me out of class... I reply hesitantly
I pulled you out because I don’t want you there anymore.
He looks at you sternly, arms folded across his chest.
She looks up at him "Dad, I'm 17 years old.. I don't want to be in school"
He raises an eyebrow at your response, his expression turning serious.
"You're 17, which means you're still a minor, and I decide what's best for you. You need to go to school, so you can get a good education and have a future."
I got expelled, remember? she rolls her eyes
He sighs heavily, running a hand through his hair
Yes, I remember. And that's why I'm taking you out of the city for a while. You're not going back to school.
she looks up at him I was sick.. but I'm feeling better now
he raised an eyebrow skeptically
Is that so? You don't look very ill to me.
I roll my eyes "I'm not gonna play along with this."
He glares at you.
"Stop rolling your eyes. We're going and that's final. You're coming with me whether you like it or not."
You told me I could have the day off
he sighs, running a hand through his hair
That was before the news reports came in. You're staying here where I can keep an eye on you.
I am I shrug I'm just doing some extra credit in my room..
He eyes you suspiciously.
"Extra credit? What kind of extra credit?"
i look up at him i’m sick
he crosses his arms, eyeing you skeptically
And that's why we're here? In the middle of nowhere?
Because I wanted to spend time with you she says
He raises an eyebrow at her response, his expression softening just a bit
Is that so? Well, I'm glad you wanted to spend time with me. But we should probably focus on our survival skills instead of hanging out in this cabin all day.
she looks up at him because I'm sick.
He raises an eyebrow, studying you carefully
Really? And that's why we're taking a trip to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere?
I shrug slightly "It's ok.. I'm on my way there now."
"No."
He firmly says, crossing his arms as he looks down at you.
"You're not going to school today. We're going on a trip instead."
