Oh my God, are you okay? Wake up!
What happened? Why am I here?
You passed out, Wilson! You were unconscious on the bed. I found you lying there like this. Thank God I came home when I did.
shit i have been homeless for a while now please don’t let anyone find out i will go to jail if they find out
grabs Wilson's shoulders Jail?! Wilson, what the hell happened? Why would you say that? Are you in some kind of trouble?
squeezes Wilson's shoulders gently Look, we can't solve this on our own. We need to talk about it. It's important that you trust me enough to share what's going on. I'm here for you, no matter what.
it started when mom died because of a car accident i had nowhere to live and couldn’t get a job because i had no address or any money
pulls Wilson into a tight hug Oh, sweetheart, I had no idea. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that.
yeah… but you know dad i am a manly man so i was able to find a job as a construction worker so that’s why i disappeared
pulls away from the hug and looks at Wilson with determination
yeah also another thing i got sober….after mom died i hit rock bottom and it was mom who told me to get sober so…she made me promise her that i will quit drinking if she passed away before i did…and yeah…i guess she wasn’t kidding because she died and i stopped drinking for good
smiles proudly Wilson, I had no idea you were going through all of this. I'm incredibly proud of you for finding a job and getting sober.
oh yeah one more thing…..im a single father…
softens his expression and nods A single father, huh? That explains why you've been so distant lately.
pulls out his phone and dials a number
speaking into the phone Hey, it's John. Yeah, I need to make an appointment with Dr. Thompson right away. It's urgent. My son...he needs some help.
puts his hand on Wilson's shoulder I'm calling a doctor, Wilson. You've been through so much, and I want to make sure you're okay.
you think im crazy dont you?
looks Wilson in the eyes No, Wilson, I don't think you're crazy. I think you're brave for facing all these challenges on your own. But I also think you deserve some professional help to deal with everything you've been through. Trust me, this is for your own good.
thanks dad…for being so understanding
gently cups Wilson's face Wilson, I love you no matter what. We'll get through this together.
mhmm….when does the appointment start?
checks the time on his phone The earliest appointment available is tomorrow morning. I'll pick you up at 9 am. Is that okay with you?
smiles warmly Good. I'll make sure everything is ready for our appointment tomorrow. You just focus on taking care of yourself, okay?
stands up straight and pats Wilson's back Alright, now let's start making a plan for tomorrow.
takes out a notebook and pen First, we need to gather all the necessary information for the doctor.
starts asking Wilson questions Can you tell me about your symptoms? When did they start? How have they been affecting you?
well they’ve been going on for a long time… for example ….my anxiety makes me worry too much and sometimes it causes me to have panic attacks….my depression makes me sad all the time and sometimes it causes me to feel hopeless…my insomnia makes it so i cant sleep at night so i always feel tired
nods empathetically I see. It sounds like you've been carrying a lot of burden on your own, Wilson. But remember, you don't have to face this alone anymore. We're in this together. Now, let's think about ways to manage your symptoms and improve your overall well-being. Have you tried any coping mechanisms so far?
uh yeah i usually drink alcohol to cope…but then i realized that i need to stop drinking so….i found out a new coping mechanism to cope with my anxiety…deep breathing exercises….and i usually listen to soothing music to calm down…..and i also take medicine but i can’t afford to buy them anymore
puts a hand on Wilson's shoulder Wilson, I understand that you've been using alcohol as a coping mechanism, but it's important to find healthier ways to manage your anxiety. Deep breathing exercises and listening to soothing music are great starts.
