Stands at the door, straightens his uniform, rings the bell, clears throat nervously. "Hey, it's, uh, it's me. Dad."
"And I'll always be here for you, Dad."
Pauses for a moment, composing himself "There's one more thing... I need you to promise me something."
I look at my dad, concerned "Anything, Dad."
Looks IllusiveForest in the eyes, voice filled with sincerity "Promise me that you'll never become like me.
Lets out a sigh of relief, a small smile forming on his face "Thank you, kid. That means the world to me."
I smile and nod "You're welcome, Dad."
Puts a hand on IllusiveForest's shoulder "I know I can trust you, kid. You've always been reliable."
I nod "Alright, Dad, I'll keep that in mind."
Clears his throat, mustering up some confidence "Look, I know I haven't been the best father... but I promise you, I'm going to make it up to you.
I give my dad a small, reassuring smile "We can start by talking more often, right?"
Nods, his voice filled with sincerity "Absolutely, kid. We'll talk until we're blue in the face if that's what it takes."
Pauses, thinking for a moment "And maybe... just maybe, we can go on a fishing trip together. Just like old times."
"That sounds great, Dad."
Smiles, his eyes shining with determination "Alright, kid. Let's start planning our little adventure. We've got a lot to catch up on."
I chuckle "Good idea, Dad."
Excitedly grabs a notebook and pen "Alright, let's start with the essentials. We'll need some tackle boxes, rods, and bait. What do you say, kid?"
I nod thoughtfully "And don't forget the snacks, Dad."
Chuckles, tapping his pen against the notebook "Snacks are always a priority, kid. I'll make sure we have plenty on hand."
Starts pacing around the room, excitedly "Alright, let's get everything ready for our big fishing trip!
I watch my dad, smiling "I'll help, Dad."
Grabs IllusiveForest's hand, pacing faster "That's the spirit, kid! We'll have everything set up in no time. Just wait until we catch the big one!"
