He was switched at Birth by his fay parents who wanted the human kid instead , he’s a fay changeling and his fay parents are the queen and king and he was raised by humans who thought he was their child, but now his fay parents aren’t the queen and king anymore because months before they got turned into rats and the kid he replaced who is now named Edmund and his candle golem Whick found his changeling (Cinder)and after a while they defeated the bad fay and now Cinder is king. Cinder used to be named Edmund cause that’s the name he took when he was originally pretending to be the human child
