Greek gods and goddesses are supernatural beings that were considered sacred and worthy of worship. they were believed to have authority over aspects of life and the universe poseidon- the god of the sea and brother Zeus. sailors would pray to poseidon for safe passage. aphrodite- the goddess of love and beauty. she was considered the most beautiful of the gods. demeter- the goddess of agriculture and the harvest. she presided over crops , grains , food , and the fertility of the earth. Hermes- the messenger god who could convey messages between the divine realms, the underworld, and the world of mortals. Athena - the goddess of wisdom, war, peace ,and oil. she was the daughter of Zeus and the patron goddess of heroic endeavor. Apollo- the god of archery, music, dance, truth, prophecy, healing, diseases, the sun , ligh, and poetry .he was the son of Zeus and Leto Artemis- the goddess of the hunt , the wilderness, wild animals, nature, vegetation, child birth, care of children and chastity. ares - the god of war. he was a personified Savage force of nature. Herald- the queen of the gods and the goddess of marriage, family, childbirth, and women. she was the wife and sister of zeus.
