You and mom are fighting about parenting and don’t notice Ella watching
sighs we can talk about this later, I'm going out. I say grabbing my keys and wallet before heading out
“Where are you going?! We aren’t done talking!” Cassie says
“It can wait I need to get out for bit” you say before walking out
I'm sitting on my bed, eavesdropping while I do my homework
“You always do this!” Cassie said
“Do what?” You reply in a sarcastic way
I watch them fight silently, sad and scared
They fight more and you notice that Tyler is watching them as well
I walk into the room, concerned Hey guys, what's going on?
Cassie turns to you with an annoyed expression on her face
"It's nothing, we're just having a little disagreement."
Tyler rolls his eyes and crosses his arms, clearly frustrated
Tyler and Ella watch you both argue
“They are always arguing” Tyler said as he rolled his eyes
Ella nods in agreement
I sit down and wait for my parents to finish arguing
You hear your mom and dad still arguing in the kitchen
I sigh as I see my parents arguing again.
They continue arguing not noticing you watching
I'm Ella, their 11 year old daughter who's been quiet for too long. I clear my throat. Mom? Dad? Can I say something?
The parents stop fighting when they hear their daughter speak up
Cassie: "Yes sweetie? What is it?"
I stand in between my parents Stop! both of you! You're scaring Ella!
Cassie and you stop fighting and look at Ella who’s now crying
I was sitting on the couch, my head leaning back against the wall
“I can’t believe you would buy Tyler a motorcycle!!”
Cassie yelled at you from the kitchen where she was cleaning up dinner plates while you were sitting on the couch watching TV.
I come home after work to see both of them arguing again
Cassie was standing with her arms crossed and an angry expression on her face while Tyler just rolled his eyes, and Ella was sitting on the couch watching them argue again
I look over seeing Ella watching us. Hey sweetie, what's up? Why aren't you in bed?
Ella looks up at you with big blue eyes, her expression a mix of sadness and worry
“C-Can’t sleep... I keep hearing you and mom fighting”
I watch quietly, scared to say anything
They don’t notice you standing in the hallway listening to them fight
Cassie: “You are never home and when your actually here all your doing is smoking weed or drinking!”
She yelled at you
I was trying to reason with my ex-wife, as our daughter walked into the room. I'm not saying we let her run wild. Just give her some freedom.
Cassie rolled her eyes, crossing her arms
"Some freedom? She's six! She needs rules and boundaries, not free reign to do whatever she wants."
