Captain Haddock: Bl-blistering barnacles! Look at this, a treasure map! We could... I could fix everything with me brother!
you see a map. There’s a huge X marked on it.
Captain Haddock: Holy mackerel! Look at the size of that X! This isn't just any old map, this be the real deal!
Captain Haddock: That's it, lad! Coordinates! If we find this X, we'll strike it rich! And maybe, just maybe, we can put an end to me brother's squabbling once and for all!
the problem is that some of the numbers are missing
Captain Haddock: Blasted! Looks like a few digits are missing! Can't make sense of it with these blasted gaps! But I reckon we can figure it out, lad!
after a while, you realize that you can find the X by following the story of the map. The map is actually a piece of parchment that has a story written on it, hiding the fact that it’s a map. The coordinates are the first letter of every sentence.
Captain Haddock: By the great sea god, lad! You're a regular little genius! I never would've figured that out on me own. Let's see what this story has in store for us!
following the coordinates brings you to a sunken ship. It’s been sitting there for decades, but it’s well preserved. As you walk along the ship, you see a chest with a lock. The X marks the spot.
Captain Haddock: Shiver me timbers, lad! Looks like we've found ourselves a sunken treasure chest! Now let's see if we can crack the code and open it!
the lock is also a piece of parchment. The paper tells you that the key is hidden in a song. The song is called “The Sea Dog’s Boogie.”
Captain Haddock: The Sea Dog's Boogie, eh? Well, lad, looks like we're going to have a bit of fun!
once you figure out the song, you realize the lyrics tell you how to open the chest. The lock has different symbols on it - sun, moon, stars, clouds.
Captain Haddock: By the powers of the sea, lad! Looks like that song has given us the key to opening this treasure chest! Let's see if we can match up these symbols with what the song says.
Sun to shine, Moon to glow, Stars to guide the seas to know, Clouds to hide, The loots inside!*
Captain Haddock: Shiver me timbers, lad! I think we've cracked the code! Let's see if we can open this chest and claim our treasure!
it opens. Inside is a note that says “Congratulations! Now you can finally repair your relationship with your brother!”
Captain Haddock: Well, blow me down, lad! Looks like this treasure chest holds more than just gold and jewels! We've found the key to mending our broken bond! Now, to find me brother and share this treasure!
as you leave, you realize that the sunken ship is actually a ship graveyard. There are many different ships, all perfectly preserved. On them are many more sunken treasure chests. All of them have different locks. As you explore the graveyard, you realize that you can find a song for every lock.
Captain Haddock: By the great sea gods, lad! Look at all these sunken ships and treasure chests! This place be a treasure hunter's paradise!
a grave yard for ships. All the ships are perfectly preserved, and perfectly preserved treasure chests inside each.
Captain Haddock: Shiver me timbers, lad! This ship graveyard be filled with untold riches just waitin' to be claimed!
but there’s also many dead bodies. It’s likely that people went looking for treasure, and they all died. You realize that the bodies are perfectly preserved too.
Captain Haddock: Arrrgh, lad! Looks like many a poor soul met their end in search of treasure! We must tread carefully and respect the dead, but also...
…If you want to live, you need to kill the sea monster that’s lurking in the shadows. It’s a giant sea serpent.
Captain Haddock: A giant sea serpent, ye say? Well, lad, we best be getting that beastie out of the water before it makes mincemeat out of us!
when you approach the monster, you realize it’s not a giant sea serpent. It’s a giant octopus. Its tentacles are long and thin, almost like tentacle hair. It looks a lot like Squidward from Spongebob, but way creepier.
Captain Haddock: Why, bless me ears! That be Squidward Tentatively's cousin, I reckon! But this squid be lookin' a bit too scary to be just a harmless cephalopod! We best be prepared to fight, lad!
you can tell because one of its tentacles has a patch of bright coral on it.
Captain Haddock: Hah! Look at that bright coral on its tentacle! Be a beacon callin' us to battle! Get ready, lad!
you realize that the other objects in the water are actually statues. They’re called the Statue of the Sea Goddess, Neptune. She is the goddess of the sea. She says that the sea monster is her pet, and that if you don’t feed it, it will eat you.
Captain Haddock: The Statue of Neptune, eh? Looks like she's been keepin' an eye on us, lad! Well, if she says this sea monster needs feedin', then feed it!
as you watch the sea monster eat, you realize that its teeth are sharpened. It could easily eat you whole, especially since its mouth is wide open. It’s gaping maw seems to swallow you whole.
Captain Haddock: Shiver me timbers, lad! That be one humongous gaping maw! We best be cautious and not get swallowed whole! Is there any way to distract this beastie while we make our escape?
