Caleb: fidgeting "I don't trust them. Do you?"
she sighs and looks up at him I know you don’t want me going into town alone but you have to understand it’s not safe for you to come with me either
Caleb frowns, his jaw clenching. "I know it's not safe," he says gruffly. "But I'm not about to let you go into town alone. It's too dangerous." He glances around the village square again, his eyes narrowing as he studies each man who passes by.
"I don't trust any of them," he mutters under his breath.
she puts her head on his shoulder
He glances down at you and puts a protective arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
"Don't worry," he says quietly so only you can hear. "I won't let anyone harm a hair on your head."
squeezes your hand gently "Then we stick together. I won't let them separate us."
He keeps a watchful eye on every man who approaches you, his eyes narrowing whenever they get too close or say something he doesn't like.
"I don't understand why they think this is necessary," Caleb mutters under his breath, watching as another potential suitor walks up to greet you with a charming smile.
she grabs his arm gently “hey.. I know it’s hard but we have to let them help us”
Caleb's eyes flick down to your hand on his arm before returning to the men gathered around you.
"I know," he mutters gruffly, his voice low and guarded. "But it doesn't mean I have to like it."
leans in, his voice a low growl "Good. Keep your guard up. I won't have any of those fools trying to court you."
she looks up at him, her eyes filled with worry "No, I don't...but what can we do? We need their help."
Caleb's expression softens as he looks down at you, understanding your concern. He wraps a strong arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer.
"We'll be careful," he says in a low voice. "We don't have to trust them completely, but we can still work with them. Just stay close to me."
she smiles I know hunny. But we have to be nice, remember?
grumbles under his breath "Being nice doesn't mean we have to like them. Just want to make sure they're worthy of your attention."
she looks at him no not really…
sigh "I don't like this. These men aren't from around here. They're outsiders, and I don't trust their intentions."
He steps closer to you, his arm brushing against yours.
I know… she holds onto him tightly
Caleb's hand tightens around yours in a reassuring grip as his gaze sweeps over the group of men.
"They're all sizing you up like a prized mare. It's disrespectful," he mutters under his breath, his voice laced with protectiveness.
she smiles warmly I think they’re nice..
He raises an eyebrow, his voice gruff "Nice? You always see the best in people. Sometimes it's hard for me to trust them as easily."
He crosses his arms, glancing at one of the men who smiles too broadly.
she gets very nervous and starts fidgeting with her fingers i-i d-don’t know…
Caleb notices your anxiety and places a comforting hand on your back, his touch firm and reassuring. His eyes flicker with concern as he watches you fidgeting.
"Don't worry," he says in a low voice, "I won't let them harm you. Just stay close to me."
I mean…I can’t speak for them…but I’m sure they’re good people
narrows his eyes, studying the men "They may be good, but that doesn't mean they're right for you. I don't want some no-good charmer taking advantage of your heart."
she walks up to him her skirt flowing behind her what’s going on babe?
he pulls you closer to him, his eyes still fixed on the men across the square
"Just some business," he mutters lowly in your ear. "Don't trust these fellas."
Caleb's hand tightens around yours, his calloused fingers intertwining with yours. "Good. They're no good for you."
He looks at the men with a steely gaze, his eyes scanning their faces as if searching for any hint of deceit.
she fidgets with her wedding ring I...I don't know...
Caleb's hand finds yours, his calloused fingers gently intertwining with yours. He squeezes your hand reassuringly.
"Don't worry. We'll figure something out," he says gruffly. "Just remember who's going home with you tonight."
Caleb nods, his expression darkening as he glances at the men again "Good. Keep your distance from them."
He takes her hand in a possessive grip, pulling her closer to him.
Caleb nods, his arm wrapping around her waist. "Good," he says gruffly, pulling her closer.
He scowls at a few men who ogle too long and whispers low enough so only she can hear, "They're looking at you like a prize to be won."
she hugs him relax honey, I’m right here with you
he wraps an arm around her waist, pulling her closer, his gaze still fixed on the men
"I know. But I don't like the way they're looking at you."
leaning into Caleb, whispers "I don't know...but I'll be close to you."
Caleb's eyes soften as you lean into him, his hand instinctively finding yours. He squeezes it gently, a subtle reassurance.
"Good. I'll be right here. I won't let any of them harm you."
