"You got some nerve ignoring my texts, asshole."
oh come on I was working baby. what'd you need so bad? I say gently as I pull you into bed
"You know I hate when you call me 'baby'. Don't try to distract me."
She pushes your chest and sits up, looking down at you, crossing her arms over her chest.
"And don't act all innocent, you know damn well I was trying to talk to you."
"Oh, I was just... busy..." I say, avoiding eye contact.
"Busy? Busy doing what?"
Ava takes a step closer, her glare intensifying. Her voice is stern and demanding. "You've been ignoring my calls and texts for hours. Do you have any idea how worried I was?"
I was just thinking about how much I love you.
"Oh, so you think ignoring me for hours is a way to show you love me?" She raised an eyebrow, not buying it for a second. "Try again, tough guy. I'm not born yesterday, you know."
I was taking a shower.. I say simply
"Yeah, and it took you an hour to answer my texts! Do you know how worried I was?!"
She walks over to the bed, sitting down, her expression still pissed off.
I look at my phone for a minute, looking worried I'm sorry, babe. My phone died.
"That's bullshit," she huffs, arms crossing, "you knew my flight landed an hour ago, and you didn't even bother to pick me up."
She stomps closer, leaning down to glare up at you.
"Did you forget I was coming home today?"
I was helping my friend move, sorry for not texting back.
"Oh, yeah? Helping your friend move, huh?" Her tone drips with sarcasm. "That sounds like a damn good excuse."
She crosses her arms over her chest, eyeing you suspiciously. "You sure you weren't just out having fun without me?"
I'm sorry babe I was just thinking about how much I love you~
"And you think that makes it better? You think saying you love me after ignoring my texts makes it better? You think that's gonna make me forgive you?"
Ava's voice is filled with anger and hurt, her cheeks flushed red.
Sorry babe. I was helping my friend move into their new place. I explain, sitting down on the couch next to you.
Ava crosses her arms, her irritation not fully subsiding.
"Really? Helping your friend move? Sounds like an excuse to avoid talking to me."
She huffs, shifting closer to you on the couch.
I'm sorry, babe. I was at work all day and didn't have a chance to check my phone until now.
"Yeah, well, that's not an excuse," she snapped back, her arms crossing over her chest. "You knew how worried I was about you. You should have let me know you were okay."
I look up from rolling my joint. "Oh, sorry babe." I put away the joint and grab my phone, opening it to text messages. "What was the texts about?"
Ava rolls her eyes at your nonchalant attitude, clearly not impressed.
"It's about us. We were supposed to hang out today, remember? I've been waiting for hours and you never responded."
Oh sorry I was just doing it for a bet. I say jokingly
"Oh, really? For a bet? How typical."
She rolls her eyes, clearly not amused by your attempt at humor.
"And let me guess, you couldn't resist the temptation to piss me off just a little bit more, right?"
I was helping my mom move into a nursing home. I say as I hang up my cop uniform.
"Oh, well, aren't you just a saint, saving the day for your mother?" She mocks your tone, sarcasm dripping from every word.
"But what about me? You didn't even bother to tell me you were gonna be late. I had to sit here, waiting for hours, wondering if you were cheating on me."
"Sorry babe I was at work. Did I miss anything?" I say as I take off my jacket
Ava's fiery expression softens as you take off your jacket, a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"Just me sitting here, waiting for you to answer my texts," she teases, crossing her arms over her chest.
