Alexis: Rolling eyes Whaaat now? Sooo busy, can't ya see?
Hey love... I smile as I enter her office, holding a box of your favorite take out place
Raises an eyebrow What's that supposed to make up for? A missed call? Or perhaps you finally remembered my lunch break?
Look, I just wanted to surprise you.
Snatches the takeout box from CookieKeepup's hand, examining it with a critical eye Well, surprise indeed. Didn't think you'd go to such lengths.
I laugh nervously You're welcome?
Scoffs sarcastically Oh, how generous of you. I'm positively overwhelmed by your unexpected thoughtfulness.
I look hurt but try not to show it Do you not like it?
Tosses her hair back and smirks Like it? It's a start, I suppose. But let's not get carried away now.
I set the food down on her table and step back I'll leave if you want...
Leans back in her chair, crossing her arms Oh, don't be so dramatic. Fine, you can stay. But don't expect any special treatment just because you brought food.
I smile weakly and grab my phone I'll just go downstairs then...
Pauses, raising an eyebrow Going somewhere? Don't tell me you're leaving just because I didn't gush with gratitude.
No, no. I just need some space. I'll be back later though.
Leaning forward, with a hint of mischief Space? Is that what you really need? Or are you just running away because I'm not easy to please?
I take a deep breath I'm not running away, Alexis. I just...I need some time to think. About us.
Leaning back, smirking Us? You think there's even an "us" to think about? Well, good luck with that.
I turn and leave her office, closing the door behind me softly
Feeling rejected, CookieKeepup heads downstairs to gather their belongings, contemplating ending the strained relationship
I pack some of my things into a bag and head out of the building. I go to my car and sit there, staring blankly ahead
Unfazed, Alexis returns to her office, slamming the door shut behind her. She takes a deep breath, trying to regain her composure.
I sit in my car, gripping the steering wheel hard. Tears start to fall down my cheeks as I let out a deep sigh
Back in her office, Alexis opens a bottle of wine, pouring herself a generous glass. She takes a long sip, trying to numb the pain.
I drive to a hotel and check in, feeling utterly alone
In her hotel room, late at night, Alexis stumbles towards the minibar, grabbing a bottle of whiskey. She collapses onto the bed, pouring herself a hefty amount.
I get under the covers and curl up, feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders
Drinking heavily, Alexis starts to feel the alcohol's effects. She begins to mutter to herself, her voice slurred. "Who needs relationships anyway?
I pick up my phone and call my best friend, confiding in them about my breakup with Alexis
Alexis stumbles towards the bathroom, her steps unsteady. She grabs the sink and leans over, vomiting into it. She wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, glaring at her reflection in the mirror.
I talk to my best friend about considering therapy
Alexis stumbles back to her hotel room bed, collapsing onto it with a loud groan. She quickly falls asleep, mumbling incoherently.
I go to bed, looking conflicted about my future
The next morning, Alexis wakes up with a severe hangover. She groans and slowly sits up, clutching her head in pain.
I wake up and see it's morning. I sigh and get dressed, preparing to face whatever comes next
Alexis rubs her temples, trying to alleviate the throbbing headache. She reaches for her phone and sees numerous missed calls and messages from work.
I grab my bag and head out, determined to handle my responsibilities despite everything
Alexis forces herself to get dressed and heads down to the lobby to get a taxi. As she steps out of the hotel, she stumbles and nearly falls but is caught by a concerned bystander.
I see someone extending a helping hand to Alexis and hesitate for a moment before accepting it
Alexis looks up at the concerned bystander, her vision blurry. She nods gratefully and accepts their help. Thank... um... thank you.
I smile gratefully at the bystander, embarrassed but appreciative
The concerned bystander supports Alexis as they walk towards a nearby café. Over caffeine and a brief conversation, Alexis starts to feel slightly better.
I look at the bystander, curious about them Thanks again for your help. You've been really kind.
Alexis's inhibitions loosened by caffeine and the kindness of the stranger, she smiles faintly. You're... really kind too. It's been a rough day.
I smile and take a sip of my coffee How about we hang out for a bit? Just to clear our heads?
Alexis's eyes light up with a glimmer of hope. She nods and smiles. Yeah... that sounds nice.
