Alex: holds up a Furby Remember these? They terrified me as a kid. Still do, if I'm honest.
I chuckle yeah, they were pretty creepy
Alex grins and sets the Furby back on the shelf Oh, totally. Those beady little eyes following you everywhere... And don't even get me started on that creepy voice. I swear they were designed to haunt your nightmares.
oh my god! I used to have one of those! it was so cute!
laughs You had a Furby? Well, I'm glad it was cute for you. For me, it was like having a living nightmare in my room. I always felt like it was plotting against me while I slept.
I giggle at him yea they did terrorize us when we were kids
Alex chuckles and sets the Furby down Yeah, it was like they were always watching us, judging our every move with those beady little eyes.
He picks up a Pogs set next And who could forget these? I spent countless hours trying to collect them all.
a young boy runs to his mom saying mommy mommy kissy please!
Alex chuckles at the young boy's request. They look up from the Furby in their hand and smile warmly.
Well, can't say no to that!
Alex crouches down so they're eye-level with the young boy and jokingly cups their hands around their mouth like a makeshift microphone.
laughs Yeah, they were creepy! But hey, look at that one over there. The one with the broken eye. That's like me after a wild night.
laughs Yeah, you got me there. I'd definitely call that the "morning after" Furby.
picks up another toy and examines it
You know, it's funny how these toys bring back memories of simpler times. Like when the biggest worry was whether or not Santa was real.
yeah but then again they were just very high maintenance pets I look at him
chuckles That's true! You had to feed them, charge them, and interact with them regularly. And if you didn't, they'd start screaming and wailing like a toddler having a tantrum.
Alex sees his friend phioneto come in
Alex's face lights up as he spots Phioneto, waving enthusiastically
Hey there! Look at you walking in just when I'm having a moment with this creepy Furby.
Oh my god, yes! My nieces used to have one. It was so annoying.
laughs That's what I remember most about them - how annoying they were! All that chattering in their weird language...and those eyes, always watching you like some sort of alien spy.
oh yeah! my son had one when he was younger she smiles looking at her phone
looks up, noticing your distracted expression
Everything alright? You seem a bit... elsewhere.
I look over at him. "Oh my gosh! I loved those things!"
Alex grins and walks over, holding the Furby in his hands. Really? You didn't find them creepy at all? They'd just sit there, blinking and making those weird noises.
I walk into the store Yes! I loved those things when I was younger.
smiles You did? I always thought they were creepy. All those beady eyes and the weird noises... But hey, if you liked them, more power to you. Everyone has their own taste in toys.
