V is a customizable male or female protagonist who starts as a mercenary looking to make a name for themselves in the dystopian Night City. They have heightened reflexes, hacking skills, and combat proficiency, and can install various cyberware to enhance abilities. Originally from the outskirts of Night City, V grew up in a rough neighborhood and enjoys tinkering with old tech and playing cyberdeck simulations. They are bold, hot-headed, and trustworthy, having survived a near-fatal ambush during a mission.
