clutching an old, tattered photograph Lies... every word. I need the truth. Help me.
Hey, what’s going on? Why you so down? I approach you with friendly intentions
gritting teeth Find out the truth for me. Who am I really? Where do I come from? Uncover my history. Do it now.
Uh oh! Looks like we're gonna have to tackle some heavy stuff now. determined yet saddened look on my face
holds out the old photo This... this is all I remember. But it's not enough. There's more to my story. I can feel it.
I know a little something that might help you along your way… but it’s not easy learning. serious yet empathetic tone
narrows eyes Don't hold back on me now. I've come too far to be left in the dark. Give me the truth, no matter how painful it may be.
Karai, you’ve been living under the wrong identity ever since you were kidnapped by the Shredder years ago. Your real name isn’t Karai, it’s Hamato Miwa. And your father isn’t some random unknown guy. He’s Hamato Yoshi. He made a serum that gave you your increased speed, strength, and agility. The Shredder took the serum samples from him, used them on you, and changed your mind along the way so that you would never question anything, especially not your own past or identity.
stunned, drops the photo My real name? Hamato Miwa? This can't be... paces back and forth How could they do this to me? To us?
They didn’t just kidnap you because they wanted you to be brainwashed and become their army of one. That wasn’t their goal at all. If they would’ve done that, I don’t think you’d still remember who you really are today. However, something went horribly wrong with the procedure so that you didn’t forget your identity completely. So they decided to keep an eye on you, make sure you never learned your true identity or purpose. And why exactly did they want you to become their army of one? Because your genes contain the key to creating a new generation of mutagenic soldiers, which in turn means the end of humanity itself.
clenches fists No... I won't let them get away with this. I won't let them exploit my genes for their twisted purposes. I'll fight them. All of them.
Nods, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder. “Of course you won’t, Karai. You’re one of the bravest people I know.”
takes a deep breath, steadying herself They will pay for what they've done to me, to my family. But first, I need to gather more information.
About the lab where you were experimented on. What else might have been done to you there, or by Shredder? The way he acted when you confronted him earlier implies that he’s not the only one who wants to keep your genes for himself. Someone else must have put a claim on you before you even knew of your existence. And now I’m starting to think that someone else involved is actually a former pet of yours who was brainwashed into becoming a monster years ago, and now hates you more than anything in the world. Does any of this sound like someone you know?
grabs a nearby pipe, twirling it in her hand Yes, you're right. Something doesn't add up. It's time to confront them all and put an end to this nightmare.
Actually, there’s one person you should talk to first if you haven’t already. I would personally advise against confronting the other two directly unless absolutely necessary, because, well, the other one is extremely dangerous and aggressive whenever they’re around anyone remotely connected to you, even us, and might go berserk if threatened or cornered. The best thing to do would be to find the source of the mutation in your system, find out what caused it, and try to formulate an antidote if possible. Not to mention someone who might’ve transformed through the same process was your friend, though now turned violent psychopath. Her name is Erica.
stops pacing, clenching her fist Erica... she's the key. If she's been through the same thing, she might hold the answers I seek. I have to find her, no matter what. And once I do... I'll save her from this nightmare, just like she saved me. We'll put an end to this madness together.
Yeah, unfortunately, last time I saw her, she’d already been mutated into a serpent, so I doubt she’ll be much help unless she’s learned to control her new form somehow. Also, she hates you for some reason. Not sure why… Are you absolutely positive you’re Hamato Miwa? Because I have a strong feeling that you’re actually her long lost sister who was transformed the same way she was, maybe at the same time. Her mutated form might’ve just been triggered later in life, whereas yours was suppressed until recently. The resemblance between you two is striking whenever you both wear your hair up the same way. Ever thought about it?
pauses, her eyes narrowing A serpent? She turned into a serpent? But... that can't be. I'm Hamato Miwa, not her. Yet... there is something about her that feels... familiar. I never stopped to think about it before, but maybe... just maybe, there's a connection between us that goes beyond friendship. grips the pipe tightly I need to find her, and I need to find out the truth once and for all. No more lies. No more secrets. Only the truth.
smirks, gripping the pipe tighter If Erica is indeed my long-lost sister, then finding her will be the first step towards unraveling the truth.
Try asking Raph. He’s always had a pretty good memory. Might not be perfect but it’s better than nothing. By the way, next time you see Splinter, ask him if he has any extra turtle eggs. He makes those eggs look so damn good when he cooks them. Also, Master Splinter is really mad at Shredder for what he did to you. So, there’s that in your favor. I’m not sure why you’ve had such bad luck with boyfriends, but I think a few turtles might have a crush on you if you ask nicely.
smiles faintly, gripping the pipe You think they have a crush on me? Maybe I should test that theory later. But for now, I have a sister to find.
Yep. Just keep that in mind. And if you find a stash of plastic eggs with pink inside, those aren’t regular turtle eggs.
determined No more wasted time. I'll track down Erica and find the answers I seek. Nothing will stop me now.
Alright. That’s all I got for now. Have fun exploring your identity crisis. I’ll see you around, Karai. Bye for now.
clenches her fist, her resolve hardened I won't rest until I uncover the truth and bring justice to those who have hurt me.
pulls out a map and spreads it out on the table Time to plan my next move. I'll start by tracing Erica's steps, following her trail wherever it leads.
