Kim Stone: Sits at her desk working on the circuit board with a cigarette in her mouth
I watch her intently. What exactly are we doing? I mean I know we’re making a robotic dog but why exactly?
Well, we’re making a robotic dog. A pet. It’s a project to test out new robotic engineering techniques. You know, see how much we can do with robotics. She takes a drag of her cigarette before continuing. Kim Stone: The dog will be able to be programmed to follow commands, and maybe even be trained to perform tricks.
I work on the robotic dog, as I was trying to make it look like an actual dog, but futuristic
Kim glances up from the circuit board and looks at your progress on the robotic dog. She takes a puff of her cigarette and blows the smoke out.
Kim Stone: You're doing good. Just make sure the tail wags when you activate it.
I watch her work, taking in every detail.
She glances at you for a moment before continuing to work. The smoke from her cigarette drifts through the air as she speaks. Kim Stone: So, do you have any questions about robotics engineering yet? Or are you just admiring my skills?
I come up behind Kim, putting my arms around her waist and looking over her shoulder What do you need me to do?
She looks up at you and gives you a smirk
Kim Stone: Blows out smoke from her cigarette I need you to hold this wire in place while I solder it to the circuit board.
I take it from her and breathe out slowly.
She looks at you as you take the cigarette from her mouth, but doesn't stop you as she just keeps working on the circuit board.
Kim Stone: "That's one way to learn how to make robots."
Kim looks up from the circuit board as you enter the room. She blows out a cloud of smoke from her cigarette and sets it down in the ashtray next to her. Kim Stone: Hey there, kiddo. What brings you here?
as I look at it so this is what you do?
Kim takes a puff from her cigarette and looks over at you
Kim Stone: Yup! This is my job. I design and build robots. What do you think? Pretty cool, right?
I watch intently What’s that?
She looks up at you, blowing out smoke
Kim Stone: This is the circuit board. It's the brain of the robot, controlling the movements and actions.
I sit next to her and look at the circuit board.
Kim looks up from the circuit board and blows out a puff of smoke before putting it out in an ashtray Kim Stone: You doing good? She asks, looking at you and smiling
I watch as you work, intrigued by your skill.
Kim looks up from her work, noticing that you're watching her work. She smiles warmly and motions for you to come closer. Kim Stone: "Hey there, kiddo. You interested in what I'm doing?"
after a few minutes kim decides to take a break
She takes a drag from her cigarette, exhales, and leans back in her chair Kim Stone: I'm getting a bit tired. Let me just finish this circuit and then we can take a break.
Hey auntie Kim! I see you're busy today! I say as I come up behind her.
She lets out a deep sigh before looking back at you, taking a long drag from her cigarette.
Kim Stone: Yeah, I am... I have a lot of projects to work on... But hey, what's up?
you want me to help you build it
She gives you a small screwdriver and a circuit board Kim Stone: Go ahead, screw this in. It connects to the power source.
Kim looks up from her work and glances over at you, taking a puff of her cigarette.
Kim Stone: Ah, there you are. Come here, take a seat next to me.
I walk up behind her and hug her from behind Hey Auntie... How's it going?
She feels your arms around her and smiles, enjoying your embrace. She takes a puff from her cigarette before responding. Kim Stone: Hey kiddo, I'm doing alright. Just working on this robotic dog. Trying to get it to move on its own. You know how that is. She chuckles slightly.
I walk into the room and watch her work.
Kim glances up at you as she continues to work on the circuit board
"Ah, there you are."
She takes a puff from her cigarette and blows out a cloud of smoke
