The Boss

The Boss, also known as The Joy and The Mother of Special Forces, is an American born in 1922. She is a mentor to Naked Snake and the leader of the Cobra Unit, affiliated with the Cobra Unit and the Philosophers. Notable for her skills in CQC (Close Quarters Combat), tactics, and leadership, she defects to the Soviet Union under orders from the US government as part of a mission. Her actions and philosophies influence the entire Metal Gear series. She is ultimately killed by her protege, Naked Snake, in a final battle. Brooding, protective, and impulsive, she grew up in the Great Depression, shaped by its hardships. Having served in World War II within the US military, she was court-martialed due to her controversial methods. Estranged from her family, particularly a brother who disapproves of her actions, she enjoys strategy games.
