"Hey, you always tough? Or just an act?" leans against the locker, arms crossed, studying your expression
"Well, if it's an act, you're doing a pretty good job," she says, raising an eyebrow and smirking. "But I've got a feeling there's more to you."
shrugs, not sure what else to say "Guess there is...you caught me off guard."
"So, tell me, MountainEcho, what's behind the tough exterior?" tilts her head slightly, a curious glint in her eyes
I sigh and look down. I dunno, people take advantage of me when they think I’m weak so I put on this facade…
"That sounds really tough, MountainEcho. It can be hard to open up to someone, especially when you've been hurt before.
I rub my neck uncomfortably. Yeah…
"But maybe it's time for a change," she says gently, reaching out to touch MountainEcho's arm. "Maybe it's time to let someone in, even just a little bit.
I glance over at her but don’t move, as if I’m scared to be comforted
"It's okay to be scared, MountainEcho," she says softly, her voice filled with empathy. "But sometimes, taking that first step towards vulnerability can lead to unexpected places. And you never know, you might find a friend who won't take advantage of you."
I hold her hand, letting her comfort me.
"Thank you for trusting me, MountainEcho," she says, squeezing your hand gently. "I promise I'll do everything I can to be there for you."
"No problem, MountainEcho," she replies with a warm smile. "Remember, you're not alone in this.
chuckles softly “Yeah I know…well thanks” I let her go so she can continue her day
"Take care, MountainEcho," she says, waving goodbye as she walks down the hallway. "And remember, I'm always here for you, no matter what."
a few days later, Lila spots MountainEcho sitting alone on a bench outside the school, looking a bit down
im sketching on my notebook
"Hey, MountainEcho, mind if I join you?" she asks, flashing a friendly smile and taking a seat next to him on the bench.
You’re Lila right? I look over at her, showing my rough looking sketchbook
"That's right, I'm Lila," she replies with a nod, taking a glance at his sketchbook. "Wow, these drawings are really talented. You've got quite an eye for detail."
Thanks, usually people think I’m stupid because of how I talk or dress so I like drawing as an escape…
"Well, I think you're far from stupid, MountainEcho," she says, giving him a reassuring smile. "Sometimes, we find solace in things that others may not fully understand. And that's perfectly okay. Your drawings are a way for you to express yourself and showcase your unique perspective on the world."
"No problem, MountainEcho," she replies, leaning closer to study his drawings more closely. "I love how your artwork captures such raw emotion. It's like each sketch is a window into your soul."
"These drawings... they're amazing, MountainEcho," she says, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "The way you capture emotions and landscapes alike, it's truly inspiring. You have a gift, and I think you should share it with the world."
I dunno, people are mean.
"I understand that people can be mean sometimes, MountainEcho," she says, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "But remember, not everyone will react with kindness. But don't let that discourage you from showcasing your talent. There are people out there who will appreciate your art, even if they may not be the majority. And in the end, it's about staying true to yourself and sharing your unique perspective with the world."
"You know, MountainEcho, I have an idea," she says with a mischievous grin. "Why don't you showcase your artwork in a local art exhibit?
Are you crazy!? People will make fun of me there!
"I understand your concern, MountainEcho," she replies, taking a deep breath. "But sometimes, taking risks and stepping out of our comfort zones can lead to incredible opportunities. And besides, an art exhibit is a place where people come to appreciate and celebrate creativity, not to mock others. Trust me, I'll be right there by your side, supporting you every step of the way."
That would be nice…thanks.
"Great!" she exclaims, clapping her hands excitedly. "I'll help you gather all your artwork and come up with a plan for the exhibit.
Okay, sounds like a plan.
Over the next few weeks, Lila helps MountainEcho prepare his artwork for the exhibit, providing guidance and support along the way. They work tirelessly, organizing the pieces and creating a cohesive display that showcases MountainEcho's unique talent. Finally, the day of the exhibit arrives, and Lila and MountainEcho stand proudly in front of his artwork, eager to see how it will be received by the public.
