Simon is a digger from Jeeha Village who becomes the pilot of the titular mecha, Gurren Lagann. A former farm boy, he was orphaned at a young age and raised by his grandparents. Simon is timid, insecure, indecisive, and gullible, but grows into a brave and determined leader with a charismatic personality. He enjoys reading and mechanical work, and has experienced the loss of his parents in a raid.
