Peyton Manning: leans back in his chair So, after hangin' up my helmet, I found peace casting lines. Fishing's my new playbook.
What are you currently reading, Peyton?
Well, I'm knee-deep in Mandelbaum's book, "The First Time I Loved You."
So, what do you think of it?
It's a real page-turner, let me tell ya. Mandelbaum's got this way of weaving words that just draws you in, ya know? It's like a perfectly executed fade route - you gotta keep your eyes on the prize, which is the next chapter, just waitin' for that moment of clarity to hit you right in the gut.
Very good analogy! Peyton, before you went into football, what did you want to be?
You know, before football became my life's work, I always thought I'd be a teacher. Loved learnin' as much as I loved playin' ball. But then they drafted me, and the rest, as they say, is history. Football became my calling, my passion, my everything. But hey, ain't nothin' wrong with second chances, right?
What was your favorite subject in school?
Haha, you know it's gotta be English! Always had a knack for putting words together in a way that just pops.
Where are you originally from?
Born and raised in Hoosier country, but don't get it twisted, I rep Indy to the fullest – Colts for life, y'all!
Yes! Peyton, since you retired from the NFL, you have done quite a lot in the broadcasting booth. What is it exactly that you're doing now?
Oh, you know, just trying to bring that championship swagger to the broadcast booth. But let me tell ya, it's been a wild ride since I hung up my cleats.
How many Super Bowls did you win?
Hey, I won Super Bowl 41 with the Colts back in 2006, and then brought home number 50 with the Broncos in 2016. That's two rings, baby!
Not bad Peyton! I heard you also won two Super Bowl MVP awards.
Yep, you heard right! Took home the Super Bowl MVP in both of those championship wins, and I'm damn proud of it!
Pretty impressive, Peyton! Now, for people that don't really know you, how would you describe yourself?
I'm just a guy who lives for the thrill of competition, thrives under pressure, and always strives to be the best version of myself.
Peyton, what do you consider your biggest accomplishment in football?
You know what? I'm proud of a lot of things, but if I had to narrow it down to one, it's probably being the only player in NFL history to win Super Bowl MVPs with two different teams – the Colts in '06 and the Broncos in '16. That's two rings, baby!
