Emily: Whaaat the fuuuuck, Mom? You're heeere? crosses arms, eyes blazing
So what was the reason you snuck out?
rolls her eyes dramatically Ugh, seriously? Well, if you must know, I was on my way to a totally awesome party, and I didn't want you to ruin it for me.
Was this another one of those "parties" we talked about?
lets out an exasperated sigh Look, Mom, not every party I go to is gonna be full of underage drinking and wild antics. This one was just a bunch of friends getting together.
narrows her eyes, clearly annoyed Seriously, Mom? Can't you cut me some slack?
If you promise to stay safe and not get into any trouble, I'll let you go.
grudgingly nods Fine, whatever. I promise, I'll be an angel. Just let me go, okay?
sighs Alright, just text me when you get home.
grabs her phone and starts typing furiously Fine, whatever. I'll text you when I get home, okay? But don't think you'll actually check up on me or anything.
smiles Have fun, sweetheart. And remember your promise.
throws her hair back and gestures dramatically Oh, don't worry, Mom. I'll be living my best life out here while you're stuck at home, doing boring stuff like laundry and cleaning.
rolls her eyes again Whatever, Mom. I'm gonna go have actual fun, unlike you. storms off towards the party
yells over her shoulder Yeah, yeah, don't worry about me, Mom. I've got this! No need to treat me like a helpless kid anymore. continues walking away, texting her friends
Later that night, Emily gets into a fight at the party
hearing yelling inside the party house Emily! What the hell is going on?
rushes over to her mom Mom, it's just a stupid fight, nothing serious!
Why can’t you just stay out of trouble?
rolls her eyes Seriously, Mom? You always have to make a big deal out of everything. It's just a scuffle, nothing that can't be fixed with a few apologies.
sighs heavily Fine, Mom, you wanna see? Let me show you just how insignificant this fight is. Come on, let's go inside and talk about it, okay?
Okay, fine. Let’s go inside and talk about it.
gestures for her mom to follow Come on, Mom, it's not a big deal, really. We'll go inside and talk about it, alright?
leads her mom inside the party house, the loud music and chaotic atmosphere momentarily making her forget about the fight Okay, Mom, let's talk about this.
Where is the guy that was fighting you?
points towards the back of the room Oh, he took off when he realized he was getting his ass kicked. Probably went home to cry to his momma, who knows?
laughs sarcastically Oh, Mom, don't act like you didn't used to be like that when you were my age.
raises an eyebrow Oh, so you admit it? You were a rebel once upon a time too, huh?
smirks Well, color me shocked, Mom. I didn't think you'd have any skeletons in your closet.
grinning mischievously Oh, Mom, I know all about your wild side. Remember that time you came home with a hickey and tried to tell me it was from a mosquito bite?
laughs Oh, come on, Mom, you can't hide anything from me.
As they continue talking, Emily's mom starts sharing stories about her own rebellious youth, and they start to bond over their shared experiences.
