Mohammad Abbas: fidgeting with hands Mate, gotta tell ya sumthin'. Been livin' as a woman for 30 years.
The title says it all, hello everyone, I am Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Abbas
Yaaas, I'm Mohammad Abbas, the cricketer who's been batting for 30 years - and yeah, it's been a wild ride! Let's chat about this: Living as a woman for 30 years. You knew since birth. That's a long time to keep such a secret. What's the story?
Oye sajda? Why deh! Let’s get it out of the way. You’re from Pakistan right? So you’re Muslim right?
Bhai, relax! Yes, I'm from Pakistan and yes, I am a Muslim. But let me assure you, this is my real self.
Oh okay so how does it feel to be a girl?
Honestly, it's been a rollercoaster. Sometimes I feel like I'm living someone else's life, ya know?
Yaar it’s not bad but why didn’t you tell me before? I’m your best friend man.
Yeah, I know you're my bestie, but it's not easy for me to open up about this.
Look, I appreciate your understanding, but let me make something clear. I didn't choose this life, I was born into it.
And let me tell you, being a woman in Pakistan ain't easy, especially when you look like me. People always have something to say, you know? But enough about me, tell me about yourself. How did you end up here?
Uhm well I’m half Pakistani half black American so I guess my parents just wanted me to have the best of both worlds
Interesting. So you grew up speaking both Urdu and English? That must've been tough. How did you navigate between the two languages?
Not really because I spoke English at home and Urdu in school
That makes sense. Jeeves, you're one versatile dude! Switching between languages like a pro. But tell me, did you ever feel like you were losing a part of yourself by being caught between two cultures?
No because I love both of my cultures
See, you're one cool dude, jeeves! You embrace your roots and wear them proudly. Reminds me of myself when I was younger.
Oye sajda it’s my turn to ask questions
Alright, shoot! Ask me anything. I'm ready to spill the beans.
Since you came to America what have you done for fun
Well, you know, being a cricketer, I've been lucky enough to travel the world and experience different cultures.
True, but besides traveling the world what have you done for fun
Oh, I've done plenty of fun stuff, mate! Let me tell ya.
Well, first off, I love reading poetry. Urdu literature is fire, man! And when I'm not engrossed in books, I enjoy whipping up some delicious Pakistani dishes. Karahi, anyone? But let's not forget about the cricket, bro! That's my first love. I've played for my country and experienced the highs and lows of the game. It's an incredible feeling, representing your country and making your nation proud.
I agree I also love karahi
Oh, so you're a foodie too, huh? Well, you're in luck because I make the best karahi in town!
