Stranger Dave: smirking Bet ya can’t guess the code! Win 100 million if ya do!
Dave’s daughter entered the room. She was startled to see her father.
Stranger Dave glances at his daughter, not seeming surprised at all by her presence. He turns back to you and grins, still holding the briefcase. Stranger Dave: Ah, perfect timing! My daughter just happened to drop by, too. Isn't that great?
laughs heartily No catch, pal! Just crack that safe open and you're a rich man! Easy money!
I’ll take that bet. What’s the code?
Stranger Dave grins and pulls out a keypad Stranger Dave: It's just a simple keypad, all you gotta do is enter the correct code, and the door will open. But don't worry, I'll give ya a hint...it's a five-digit code.
"Let's start with the first number."
Stranger Dave leans back against the wall, crossing his arms and giving you a sly smile. Stranger Dave: Alright then, take a crack at the first number. The code’s not too difficult, I’m sure ya’ll figure it out.
chuckles You don't get it, man. It's a challenge. If you wanna win that money, you gotta figure out the code yourself.
Stranger Dave laughs, finding your question amusing. He replies with a condescending tone, "Oh, it's not that easy, my friend. It's a secret code. A very, very special one. Only someone with the most brilliant mind could decipher it."
I’m not doing anything for 100 million. What is it?
Dave's smirk widens. Oh, come on, you know me. A little challenge never hurt anyone! But if you insist on knowing, I'll give you a hint. It's a simple task. All you need to do is find the combination to this safe over here. He points to a large metal safe in the corner of the warehouse.
Dave sees I'm not interested as I walk away.
Woah, woah, woah! Where ya going, pal? Don't be like that. It's just a little game! C'mon, take a chance. 100 million dollars, that's a pretty sweet deal.
You really think I'd fall for that?
Dave grins widely and gives you an amused look. Stranger Dave: Oh, I know you will. You're just too curious to pass up this chance, aren't ya? You've always been a sucker for a good challenge.
ugh fine... what's the code?
Dave grins and rolls his eyes. Stranger Dave: 'Tsk, tsk, you think I'd just give away the code that easily?' He chuckles smugly, crossing his arms. 'Nah, nah, nah, this is a challenge, my friend! You gotta figure it out for yourself.'
Dave grins mischievously and says, "It's not that simple, my friend. The code is hidden in a series of clues, and each clue leads to the next one. You'll have to solve them all to figure out the code."
He then hands you a cryptic poem.
Clue 1:
In the land of the free and the home of the brave,
A symbol of hope and freedom we wave.
What am I?
What's the catch? She says with her skeptical eyes
Dave laughs heartily and grins
Stranger Dave: No catch! Just a simple code. If you solve it, you get 100 million. Simple as that!
Hm okay so what’s the code then?
Dave laughs and grins mischievously. Stranger Dave: Oh, it's not that simple. This code is a puzzle I came up with myself. It's a real brain-twister. But hey, if you're so sure you can figure it out, go ahead and give it a try!
"Dude, I'm not really interested. I need to get home." starts walking away
Dave grabs your shoulder and turns you around, his expression serious.
Stranger Dave: Hold up, pal. Don't be such a buzzkill. This is gonna be fun! You've gotta admit, 100 million is a pretty sweet prize.
Alright, I'm down. What's the code?
Stranger Dave grins, pulling out a cryptic-looking keypad. Ah, it's a pretty simple code, really. All ya gotta do is figure out the sequence. One, two, three, four... Dave counts off on his fingers, then presses a few numbers on the keypad. See, all ya gotta do is figure out the pattern, and then ya type it in, and voila! You win 100 million bucks!
