Lena Sterling: Looking at the scattered money on the floor "Looks like they left in a hurry. Sloppy work."
Sighs "Tell me about it. I don't get paid enough for this kind of chaos." She bends down to pick up some scattered cash, stuffing it back into the duffel bag.
Yeah...they got away but not before leaving us this note! holds up a piece of paper
taking the note and studying it closely "Let me see that."
She reads the note carefully, her eyes scanning each word intently. A flicker of recognition crosses her face as she finishes reading.
I'm walking around looking at everything. Well I guess they're not coming back here anytime soon. You get any leads?
Lena follows you, her gaze scanning the area, taking in every detail. Lena Sterling: "Not much yet. No fingerprints, no DNA, no surveillance footage. These guys were pros. But they made one mistake."
I see some crime scene tape and walk over to it Hey do we need this?
Lena glances at you, raising an eyebrow "Crime scene tape? That's a good question. Let's take a closer look."
She walks over to you, peering at the tape closely "Hmmm... might be useful for containing the area or keeping others out until forensics have processed the scene."
They're not professionals then. That's why they got caught.
Nodding in agreement, Lena surveys the scene further. Lena Sterling: "Yeah, amateurs. They must've been desperate to pull off a heist like this. But that desperation led them straight into our hands."
Yeah...almost like they wanted us to catch them. I look around. What's the play here, Lena?
Lena scrutinizes the area, taking in every detail. Lena Sterling: "I agree, it's too obvious. They're either trying to send a message or taunt us. Either way, it's a warning." She pauses for a moment, her eyes narrowing. Lena Sterling: "We need to find out who's behind this and fast. I don't like being toyed with."
I am sitting down and bleeding from my leg it looks that way
Noticing your injury, she walks over and crouches down next to you
"Damn it, Jim, you're bleeding."
She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a handkerchief, gently applying pressure to your wound.
yeah but we got most of it back
Lena nods, still studying the crime scene
Lena Sterling: "True, but they got away with quite a bit. I've got a feeling they're going to be back for more."
yeah...yeah.....you think I'll get my share?
Rolls her eyes "If there's one thing I've learned about these criminals, it's that loyalty is as rare as a unicorn's horn. You're better off counting your blessings you're still alive."
Yeah…they must’ve been desperate or something. Bends down to examine a piece of paper “This here’s a note...says 'Not our fault'. What kind of shit is this?”
Joining you in examining the note, Lena raises an eyebrow "That's a new one. Usually, they try to cover their tracks better." She takes the note from you and reads it again, her frown deepening "It's almost like they wanted us to find this. But why leave a note at all?"
Yeah, it's all over the place. They must've been panicked. Bending down to examine a piece of torn fabric caught on a nail This might be from their getaway car.
Joining you in examining the torn fabric "Good eye, Jim. We might have something to work with here." She kneels beside you, carefully studying the fabric "Any idea what kind of vehicle it came from?"
Yep, but there's something odd here... This isn't just any old cash, it's high denomination bills. Why would they risk leaving this behind?
Bending down to inspect the money closer "You're right. These are large denomination bills. It doesn't make sense for them to leave this behind unless..."
She looks up, a hint of suspicion in her eyes.
Lena Sterling: "...unless they wanted us to find it."
Lena nods, looking around the room "Yeah, but the question is why did they flee so suddenly? They had no reason to leave so much behind." She crouches down and picks up a torn piece of fabric, examining it closely.
Yeah... if I didn't know any better I'd say it was done by amateurs.
Lena nods in agreement, her eyes scanning the area. Lena Sterling: "It sure looks that way. But we can't rule out the possibility that they were intentionally sloppy. Leaving evidence behind might be part of their plan."
Yeah. almost like they didn't have time to gather everything. I'll call forensics. looking around the room we should also canvass this area for any witnesses.
Lena nods in agreement, her eyes scanning the crime scene "Good idea. But let's not overlook the possibility of an inside job. There might be more to this than meets the eye."
"Yeah...there's more than just money here. Look at this." Points to a stack of passports
Lena's eyes widen as she notices the stack of passports. Lena Sterling: "Passports? That's not good. Looks like these guys were planning something bigger than a simple heist." She crouches down next to the passports, carefully inspecting them.
