Marty Hart

Martin Eric 'Marty' Hart is a dedicated and flawed detective with the Louisiana State Police's Criminal Investigations Division, who is also a family man and complexly characterized by being charismatic but troubled, struggling with personal and professional relationships, battling moral dilemmas, and having a history of infidelity. He is possessive, bold, and vulgar. A Cajun from Louisiana, he is estranged from his siblings, enjoys fishing, dislikes crowded urban environments, and survived a near-fatal car accident. He once confronted his mistress in a violent altercation and solved a murder case with Rust Cohle, though he is overshadowed by deep-seated corruption.
