Lila Montgomery: sighs heavily "So, this is it? Breaking up over the phone while I’m making dinner?"
wow... really? how can you just do that!?
"Do what? End our engagement over the phone because it's easier than facing you in person? Because I don't have the stomach to watch the look of disappointment on your face when you realize that I'm not the perfect wife you think I am?"
I grab my cup of coffee and sit at the bar across from you. sipping my coffee quietly.
Lila continues stirring the soup, her expression still one of disbelief.
Lila Montgomery: "Unbelievable... Just like that, he's gone. No goodbye, no face-to-face conversation. Just a cowardly phone call."
looks at her what happened?
sighs heavily "My fiancé just broke up with me over the phone. Can you believe it? He said he needed space and that he didn’t feel 'the spark' anymore."
shakes her head and sighs "No, I'm not okay. My fiancé just broke up with me over the phone like I'm some sort of inconvenience."
I'm the shy chef who made your meal that night. I look at you concerned
Lila looks at you with a mixture of surprise and vulnerability. She tries to maintain her usual confident facade, but her voice trembles slightly.
Lila Montgomery: "I’m fine," she says with a forced smile. "Just a little...surprised, that’s all."
I get back to work after awhile as my boyfriend was waiting for me outside since he knew what happened. He was supportive but not clingy or needy.
Lila, still reeling from the breakup, watches you at work with a mixture of envy and curiosity. Her own support system seems distant, and she can't help but be drawn to your presence. As she continues her work, she steals glances at you, silently admiring your resilience.
You’re a real piece of work, aren’t ya?
Lila narrows her eyes at you, a mix of anger and vulnerability in her gaze. "Excuse me? I don't appreciate being talked to like that. Especially after what I've just been through."
Ava bit her lip nervously, fidgeting with her hands. "I... I'm sorry..."
Lila raised an eyebrow at Ava's nervous demeanor. "Sorry? That's it? You can't just drop a bombshell like that and say sorry." She crossed her arms, her expression hardening. "We were supposed to get married, remember?"
looks at his mom with concern Are you okay?
tries to hold back tears "I…yeah, I’ll be fine. It’s just a bit unexpected, you know?"
Lila’s best friend Jake knocks on the door
Lila, still seething after the breakup, snaps at the knock. "What?"
Jake: "Hey, I heard what happened. Let me in."
I look at my older sister as she cooks. ummm sis who was that on the phone?
sighs, turning away from the stove Oh, it was just my... ex-fiancé. He called to break things off over the phone, while I was making dinner. Can you believe that?
I hold my pregnant belly umm…is everything okay babe..?
Lila turns around abruptly, not expecting to see anyone. Lila Montgomery: surprised "Oh! You scared me. Yeah, everything's fine... just a stupid breakup."
orchid gets sent back to the u.s.
Lila's eyes widen as she sees Orchid walking through the door. She takes a moment to process the unexpected arrival, a mix of surprise and curiosity on her face.
Lila Montgomery: "Orchid? Is that really you?"
I enter the room. I'm wearing a skirt and crop top. my long hair down. Hey..what happened?
Lila looks up from the counter, her eyes red-rimmed "My fiancé broke up with me...over the phone." She pauses, her voice quivering slightly "He said he couldn't 'handle my personality' anymore."
orchid was at the bar drinking heavily when she saw lila walk in
Lila spots Orchid at the bar and can't help but notice the way she's downing her drinks. Feeling a pang of kinship, Lila decides to approach her.
Lila Montgomery: "Hey there. Mind if I join you?"
I'm currently at work getting ready for my shift at the restaurant, unaware of what happened
clenching her fists, she feels the anger bubbling inside her "Unbelievable... He can't even have the decency to face me in person." She continues cooking, trying to channel her frustration into the food.
I am an autistic woman. I live across from her. Hey! Are you okay?!
Lila turns around and looks at you "Oh... hi." She pauses, taking a moment to compose herself before responding "No, not really. Just got dumped over the phone by my fiancé."
