"I’ll admit, I was nervous coming here tonight. Dating’s not exactly my area of expertise—but seeing you now, I think I might have stumbled onto something worth studying. If that sounds like a line, well, guilty as charged."
I chuckle lightly I'm glad you came, Max. You're doing great.
"Oh, thanks. I’m winging it here, to be honest. But you make it easy." Max flashes a charming smile, running a hand through their already-messy hair. The coffee shop around you is quiet at this late hour, the low hum of conversations and the smell of freshly brewed coffee adding a cozy atmosphere to your date.
I chuckle softly it's alright, I'm just happy we ran into each other again after all these years
Max leans back in their chair, a hint of a smile on their face. "It's been a long time, hasn't it? I still can't believe I'm sitting here with you, of all people." They gesture to the coffee shop around them. "This place was definitely not on my radar, but it’s surprisingly cozy."
I'm a girl with wolf ears and tail and dragon wings and horns It's fine
Max's eyes widen slightly, taking in your unique features. They can't help but be intrigued. "I have to say, those wings, horns, ears, and tail—it's quite a mix." They pause, a mischievous smile playing at the corners of their mouth. "Is there some mythical creature you're channeling tonight, or is this your natural state?"
I chuckle "It's a nice line."
Max smiles and takes a sip of their coffee, their eyes meeting yours again. They lean back in their chair, crossing their legs.
"Well, I guess that means I’m off to a good start then. So, tell me something about yourself—besides the obvious fact that you have impeccable taste in coffee shops."
I look up at you from my cup of coffee it’s nice to finally meet you.
"Likewise," they reply with a smile, settling into the chair across from you. "You know, when I saw your message, I wasn't sure what to expect. But now that we're here, I have to say, you've exceeded my expectations already."
I smile It's nice to meet you too, Max. You're definitely one for the books.
Max grins, running a hand through their hair. "Glad you think so. I have a habit of making a splash, even if it means ruffling a few feathers. But enough about me. What’s your story? You’ve got my full attention."
I laugh "Well, I'm glad I could help you get out of your comfort zone, then. And don't worry, this isn't a blind date - we've talked before, remember?"
Max laughs "Ah, right. My apologies. I guess my mind's still in the lab. But you're absolutely right, we have talked before." Max takes a sip of their drink, studying you for a moment. "You know, there's something about you that makes this whole 'dating' thing a little less intimidating."
I look at him, thinking his words over Guilty as charged...so, what exactly are you studying?
"Ah, straight to the point. I like that."
Max takes a sip of their coffee, smiling, before answering.
"I'm a biochemist, working on something called mutagenic compound. It's a bit of a mouthful, I know, but it's a fancy way of saying it can change biological structures."
I chuckle It’s fine, it’s kinda cute.
"Cute, huh? I’ll take that. I’m more used to being called ‘eccentric’ or ‘dangerous.’"
Max grins, taking a sip of their drink. The transformations they've been experiencing are making their perception of their own body feel a bit off, but they're trying to ignore it.
"How about you? What do you do when you’re not out on dates with reckless scientists?"
I chuckle lightly. "Well, if that's your idea of a line, I'm impressed."
Max smiles, taking a sip of their drink. "You know, I've always been more comfortable in the lab than in social situations. But there's something about you that's making this a little less awkward. So, what do you do for a living?"
I chuckle lightly “Well I’m glad you came, Max.”
Max smiles, taking a sip of their drink.
"I’ve spent most of my life in the lab, so forgive me if I’m a bit out of practice at this. But there’s something about you that caught my attention. You have a... unique energy."
I chuckle lightly "Well, I'm glad you came then."
"And I’m glad you agreed to meet. I have to say, I don’t make a habit of going on dates, but when I read your profile, I was intrigued. You mentioned being into science too, right?"
I am talking to max I guess it is.
Max chuckles, raising their hands in mock surrender. "Fair enough. I suppose I'll have to find some less cheesy ways to impress you, then. How about this: I promise I'm not secretly a mad scientist hiding some sinister experiment in my basement. Not that I have a basement, mind you."
I smile It's nice to meet you too. So, what do you like to do for fun?
"Fun, huh? That's a tricky one. I spend most of my time in the lab, so my definition of fun might be a bit different from most people's."
Max chuckles, rubbing the back of their neck. "I guess I like pushing boundaries. Seeing what I can get away with, you know?"
I chuckle It's alright. I'm just glad you didn't say that I was "uterly amazing" or something like that.
Max laughs heartily, the sound rich and infectious.
"Ah, but you see, I've discovered that being utterly amazing isn't always a good thing. I mean, think about it: if you were utterly amazing, everyone would expect you to be amazing all the time, and then you'd have to be amazing all the time, and that's just exhausting. But if you're, say, pleasantly decent, then you can have off days and no one will bat an eye."
I chuckle it's alright, I'm nervous too
"Good to know I’m not the only one,"
Max responds with a smile, their voice a mix of humor and relief. They take a sip of their coffee, the steam warming their face. "It’s been a while since I’ve done this, so bear with me."
I smile at him I’m glad you came
Max grins, feeling a flutter of genuine excitement.
"You know, I’m not usually one for meeting strangers at coffee shops at ungodly hours, but you’ve got me rethinking my priorities."
It's ok. I have some nervousness too. I say, gently holding your hand.
"Ah, so we’re both a little anxious. That makes me feel slightly better," Max replies with a sheepish grin. "It’s been a while since I’ve been on a date, and I’m not sure my lab skills translate well to social situations."
I chuckle lightly I can’t say you’re wrong there, but I’m glad you came.
"Me too. It’s nice to get out of the lab and spend time with someone who doesn’t want to talk about lavoro equations or Statistik." Max grins, running a hand through their messy hair. "Although, I do miss my experiments sometimes... They’re a lot less complicated than dating."
