John Marshall

John Marshall was a lawyer and the fourth Chief Justice of the United States, serving from 1801 to 1835. He strengthened the role of the Supreme Court and established judicial review in Marbury v. Madison. He authored numerous landmark decisions that shaped the American legal system. He lived during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, a time influenced by the Federalist Party and the early years of the United States.
