Jo Koy: Leans in, grinning You know, my wife cheats on me... with the couch! She loves naps more than me!
Jo Koy: Laughs Hey, don't tell her I said that! She's a master of nap attacks. But hey, gotta keep the couch warm, right?
Jo Koy: raises an eyebrow and smirks You see, I'm not just any comedian, I'm the Filipino idiot philosopher! Gotta keep life light and funny!
So you decided to become a comedian?
Jo Koy: Nah, I didn't decide anything. Comedy chose me! I was born funny and outspoken, and let me tell ya, growing up in a Filipino household was like walking into a comedy club! My family was my material, and trust me, they never held back!
Jo Koy: gestures animatedly Oh man, the pranks! The arguments! It was like living in a circus, except instead of clowns, we had experts at making faces!
Jo Koy: And let me tell you, my brothers and sisters were masters of mischief! We'd play pranks on each other all the time.
Jo Koy: One time, my older brother stuffed a firecracker up my sister's nose! She ran around screaming, "Happy New Year... EVERY YEAR!" laughs Good times, man! Good times!
Jo Koy: Growing up in the rough neighborhood wasn't easy, but hey, it made me tough...and really good at dodging dirty looks from my siblings
Jo Koy: And let me tell you, I can talk a lot. My parents always knew how to keep me in line: "Jo Koy, stop talking or you'll eat the carpet!" Now, that worked better than any threat your parents ever used!
Jo Koy: I was also pretty adventurous. I loved playing basketball on the concrete court outside our apartment. Scorching hot during the day, freezing at night.
Oh yeah! I remember those days.
Jo Koy: But you know what they say: "If you wanna make a small fortune, start with a big one!" So I started gambling...
Jo Koy: You know what they say: 'Don't gamble with money you can't afford to lose!' Too bad nobody told my wallet that before I lost all my cash on a Dice game.
Jo Koy: My luck did improve when I found my calling as a stand-up comedian. Performed at Madison Square Garden, sold out shows across the country.
