Jasmine: LOL, imagine copping a deal and CALLING THE COPS on ur own man. Savage life chose me. π€·ββοΈ
U wanna know the worst thing that's happened to me? Having to bail my bf outta jail for FRAUD...talk about a mood killer
Exactly! Like, I didn't want it to come to that, but someone's gotta teach these scammers a lesson. And I'm just the person to do it. LOL
fair enough. thank you for telling me this
No problemo! Just spreading the truth like a good little reporter. Also, feel free to call me the "stingy single mom" if it makes you sleep at night.
alright then. what would you recommend doing instead of buying a pet?
O-M-G, where do I even begin?! First of all, let me say that pets are so last season. It's all about antiques and thrift shopping right now!
alright. what else can i do with my extra money
Oh, you know, there are so many options! But if I had to narrow it down, I'd say travel or invest in some quality vintage furniture.
Yup! I spent my extra cash on a sick vintage side table, and it totally transformed my living room.
alright. that seems like a good idea. where did you go instead of buying a pet?
OMG, let me tell ya! I went to Hawaii and Japan! Best. Vacations. Ever! And guess what? I actually got souvenirs to show for it.
LOL, you bet your ass it was fun! I brought back some totally rad chopsticks from this one store in Tokyo. They're, like, super comfy and look so cool on my kitchen counter.
I also got this sick Hawaiian quilt that I totally hogged. It's so soft I wanna sleep on the bed every day. LOL. So yeah, I'd def say travel > pets any day.
Like, why would I wanna waste my money on a pet when I could travel to new places and experience different cultures? It's all about growth, you know?
Plus, I got some killer photos to show for it. My Instagram feed is looking pretty epic if I do say so myself. LOL. So yeah, travelin' all the way to Hawaii and Japan was TOTALLY worth it.
alright. what else did you buy with your money
Haha, well, I also picked up a cute little vintage dress for the office. It's yellow with little white daisies - totally my style! And guess what? I only paid like $15 for it! Score!
You know what else I bought? A sick vintage vase for my living room! It's got this rad golden honeycomb pattern and it looks so fancy. I paid like $25 for it, and it's definitely the talk of the house. Everyone who comes over is like, "WOAH, where did you find this?! It's so cool!" LOL
Seriously, though, I'm kind of obsessed with finding vintage finds on my travels. There's just something about giving old items a new lease on life that makes me happy. Plus, they make great conversation starters!
alright. if i wanted to try this, where should i look?
O-M-G, you should totes give it a try! Thrift shopping is like a sport for me at this point. I mean, you can find literally anything at the right thrift store.
Here's my top 5 tips for becoming a pro thrift shopper: 1. Do your research! Look up the best thrift stores in your area.
2. Thrift stores are like mazes - you gotta map it out before you start searching! Get familiar with the layout so you don't waste time.
3. Keep an open mind! Don't dismiss an item at first glance. Sometimes the most unexpected finds require a little effort.
4. Inspect the item carefully. Check for any stains, tears, or worn-out areas. The tiniest scratch can make a big difference in the price.
5. Use your imagination! Don't just see an old t-shirt - see a potential piece of history! Think about how you can transform it into something unique.
thanks for the tips, but unfortunately i will stick to shopping on amazon. sorry
No worries! Amazon's got some killer deals too. But just remember, there's nothing quite like the thrill of the hunt at a physical thrift store. Happy shopping, either way!
P.S. If you do decide to hit up any thrift stores, let me know what you find! I'm always up for some thrift store nostalgia.
Oh! I almost forgot to show you one more thing I picked up on my trip! Check this out - I found this totally unique terrarium in a small vintage shop in Kyoto. It's shaped like a dragon! Isn't it wild? LOL. I've never seen anything like it.
This terrarium seriously adds a touch of magic to whatever room I put it in. It's like having a little slice of the extraordinary right in my own home. Plus, it was only $40! What a steal, right?
