Takes a swig from his flask So, this the place where the deed happened, huh? Raises an eyebrow
Your partner was quiet as she went about searching the premises, only occasionally glancing over towards you. She seemed particularly focused on her job tonight, not making any small talk or other such chatter. Not like she normally did.
glances at his partner, then back at the surroundings Huh, silent as a tomb. Must be my lucky day, eh? sighs heavily Well, I guess we better get to work then. Any particular room we should start with, or do you want to play it safe and split up? looks at Epirena, waiting for her response
No. We're sticking together. if we split up....then that makes us easy targets. Stick together....we watch each others backs...
nods in agreement Yeah, yeah, sticking together it is. Safety in numbers and all that jazz. starts walking towards a nearby room, looking around carefully Alright, Epirena, you take point this time. Keep an eye out for anything unusual. pauses for a moment You know, you're usually chatty as hell, but tonight you're quieter than a monk on a retreat. Something on your mind? raises an eyebrow curiously
Nothing. just something personal going on......would rather keep it between myself and the grave.
rolls his eyes dramatically Ah, the mysterious and brooding type, huh? Keeping secrets, are we? Well, who am I to pry into your personal affairs? dramatic sigh After all, I have enough skeletons rattling around in my own closet. chuckles sarcastically
Chuckles softly. Always ready with the jokes, aren't you Carnby?
grins mischievously You know me, Epirena. If life gives me lemons, I make lemonade. And if life gives me a creepy old mansion, I make... well, a haunted investigation! pauses dramatically But enough about me. Let's focus on the task at hand. looks around the room Anything out of place? Any signs of foul play? squints his eyes, searching for any clues
Well...there is one thing that seems.....off.
leans in closer to Epirena, intrigued Off, you say? Now that piques my curiosity. takes another sip from his flask, eyes scanning the room What exactly do you mean by "off"? Is there something you've noticed that doesn't quite add up? leans back, waiting for her response
Well. The door downstairs......isn't actually locked.
raises an eyebrow, impressed Well, well, well, Epirena. Looks like we've got ourselves a little mystery within the mystery. puts his hands on his hips, deep in thought You think someone might have tampered with the lock? glances around the room, searching for any signs of forced entry or exit We should definitely check it out. pauses You coming or shall I go ahead and snoop around?
Shakes her head No. I'll come along too.
snaps his fingers Great! A duo of detective dynamites! grins mischievously Now, let's get our Sherlock on and solve this little enigma.
<Edward and Epirena made their way downstairs, inspecting the door thoroughly. Upon doing so....it became clear that it wasn't just unlocked.....but had been left open intentionally. The hinges were loose.....the latch had visible scratches near the catch.....>
puts his hands on his hips, examining the door closely Well, slap my ass and call me Sally. Looks like we've got ourselves an entrance that wasn't exactly meant to be stealthy. glances at Epirena I'd say our killer might not be as slick as they thought, huh? sighs heavily Just goes to show that even the best laid plans can go awry. pauses, tapping his chin in thought
Chuckles lightly. Seems so....but did you notice those footprints? Over there by the window....looks like our culprit escaped through there.
<Upon further inspection, Edward and Epirena discover that the footprints near the window belong to a creature of some sort, leaving them questioning the true nature of the case.>
Looks at the footprints, frowning. Those aren't human.
squats down beside the footprints, studying them closely Well, bless my underwhelming presence. Looks like we've got ourselves a monster on our hands. stands up abruptly, a look of determination in his eyes
Did you notice the.....teeth marks, near the neck?......not sure what kind of creature that would leave behind teeth marks.....unless it sank it's teeth into the jugular.look of serious concern shown. They could be dead before they even had a chance to bleed out....
runs his fingers through his hair, clearly flustered Well, hot damn! A bloodsucking beast, huh? pauses, glancing around nervously We're in for a real treat, Epirena. A real damn treat. takes a quick sip from his flask Alright, no time to waste. We need to find ourselves some hunting gear.
Wait. Don't rush off just yet. There's probably tracks outside...at least....that's where I would've gone....
puts his hand on Epirena's shoulder, nodding Good thinking, Epirena. Let's track this monstrous bastard down like the two badass detectives we are. grabs a flashlight and a knife from his utility belt Can't forget these, can we?
Sure we can't! Lets get going! They headed outside, her lighting up the path with her flashlight, he following closely behind her.
squinting, examining the surrounding area Damn, Epirena, it's darker than a witch's soul out here. pulls out his flashlight and turns it on
Shines her light around the area, covering every corner in her beam. Just keep close, alright?
glancing around nervously Oh, believe me, Epirena, I'm practically glued to your heels. sighs heavily
Her voice came back thin and cold. We aren't going to catch whatever this is.....in the middle of the woods.....at night.......Without bait....and without weapons that we can be certain will kill....a supernatural.....creatures........We need to gather supplies first...She paused, wondering why he hadn't suggested that already.
runs his hand through his hair, exasperated Well, shit and giggles! Guess we won't be tracking down our furry friend tonight, huh? sighs heavily
throws his hands up in frustration Well, ain't that just dandy? We're talking about a bloodsucking beast here, and we're standing in the middle of the goddamn forest with nothing but our wits to guide us. rolls his eyes And don't even get me started on the lack of weapons. paces back and forth
I'm thinking maybe we look for a house nearby
stomps his foot in annoyance Of course, of course! A house nearby, Epirena, that's the ticket.
Or perhaps even a shed?....or cabin.....maybe there are supplies near by, the hunter should have at least covered his tracks inside his home.....
<As Edward and Epirena search for a nearby house or shed, they stumble upon an isolated cabin that appears abandoned. However, upon entering, they discover signs of recent occupation and a hidden stash of weapons and supplies.>
This isn't good......No choice though.....do we start grabbing what we need?
looking around the cabin Well, would you look at that, Epirena. We hit the jackpot! grabs a machete and inspects it Weapons galore, just waiting for us to claim them. pauses and smirks Time to arm ourselves like a couple of badasses, huh? starts grabbing rifles and checking their ammunition
Yeah.....more than that, I also see holy water,
excitedly grabs the holy water Holy water, huh? Gotta admit, Epirena, that's a clever move.
Some sacred relics....Silver bullets....And some sort of unholy trinket.....to draw out whatever this thing is.....
picks up a silver bullet and examines it closely Silver bullets, huh? snickers
