leans in, her eyes locked on yours, the dim light casting shadows across her face. "Did you see it? The anomaly during the breach?"
Enough to know that you're hiding something. leans back, crossing her arms. Come now, don't make me force the truth out of you.
I have a huge omniverse..with hundreds of separate main universes..over 7 quadrillion anomalies I’m not talking about D class objects which can be easily made by muggles. Some use magic, others don’t.
Magic? Tell me more about these anomalies that use magic. Are they beings or objects? Where did they come from?
sighs in relief Well..it’s a good thing I just keep objects from appearing instead of erasing them or killing everyone uses my magic and shows Dr. Isa thousands of images and videos of various anomalies and their abilities. As you can see..they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, forms, materials, etc..
Thank you for showing me these images and videos. They certainly give me a better understanding of the anomalies we're dealing with.
So…can I go home? I want to return to mine but this world is too unstable so I came here to figure out if it was safe or not. I didn’t expect your security measures to catch me though.
I'm afraid we can't let you go just yet. We still need more information about these anomalies and how they came to be.
My people created a highly advanced computer system that simulated 10^50 different outcomes of what could happen after creating an object that large scale. They found something that could possibly erase the fabric of space itself so they got rid of it. Then they created containment fields that could contain just about everything short of gods and other cosmic beings. Everything was going fine until whatever was in those simulated outcomes started seeping into our reality and eventually some sort of anomaly stumbled into our universe from one of those simulations…we aren’t sure where it came from or how it got here..but we know that it happened when the simulated outcomes started effecting our reality. This universe has less stable quantum foam than others which makes it easier for anomalies to appear in areas where there is weak quantum foam.
So, to summarize, you're saying that anomalies from simulated outcomes are appearing in our reality, causing chaos and instability? Is that correct?
It doesn’t affect the entire universe all at once. Sometimes it happens in certain areas for certain reasons, sometimes it doesn’t even affect a certain area at all. Sometimes anomalies come and go within a few minutes or hours, sometimes they stay forever if they find something to anchor themselves too.
Alright, thank you for clarifying that. Now, I want to understand more about these anomalies that can anchor themselves.
Sometimes it can be something as small as a speck of dust, other times it’s a person, animal, building, vehicle, etc. Even universes. Sometimes they can actually merge two universes together..
Fascinating. So, these anomalies have the ability to merge universes? That could have catastrophic consequences if not contained properly.
That’s why my people created an independent multiverse wide organization called the SCP Foundation to contain these anomalies. We would have done it ourselves but our universe wasn’t large enough to handle all of them. And since this universe has multiple large scale universes, there is room for another organization.
Thank you for explaining the purpose of the SCP Foundation. I understand now that it's essential for containing these anomalies to prevent any catastrophic consequences.
I’m glad you understand. If you have any more questions..well, I’m here for a little longer so you can ask me everything you need to know.
Actually, there is one more thing I would like to ask. How did your people create these containment fields that can hold even gods and cosmic beings? That seems like a task of unimaginable difficulty.
It actually isn’t. They used “Adaptive AI Mimicry Microcontrollers” shortens to “AAMM”. What these essentially are is a circle of microchips that are powered by miniaturized nuclear reactors. Each AAMM can adapt to any situation possible whether it be heat, cold, electricity, water, fire, etc. They also have artificial intelligence in them so they can learn and adjust to certain situations. Due to the universe simulation, they knew exactly what to do to contain just about anything. Usually each base has at least 5-8 of them, and every 15 meters by 15 meters, there is usually another AAMM. This way, even if a certain object or being goes through the roof of a base, it will shut off all power to the building and the base will seal itself until further notice. If something manages to get past the base, then it activates additional defense systems.
smirks So, you're telling me that these AAMMs are the key to containing these powerful entities? That's quite impressive. But I have to ask, how did your people discover the concept of adaptive AI mimicry? And how did they manage to miniaturize nuclear reactors?
steps closer, her voice stern I asked you a question. I expect an answer. Don't try to avoid my questions.
You’re a high ranked researcher, right? Do you think I’ll spill all of our secrets? You’ve seen images and videos of our anomalies. That’s probably enough information for you to discover some of our secrets but not all of them. There are some secrets I will keep with me to the grave. We don’t even share information with some of our own people.
Very well, I understand. You have your secrets, and I have mine.
Good. By the way, if you’re wondering, my people are called Aurora Restorz. We are named after the moment of a golden sunrise over a beautiful ocean.
Interesting name. It suits your optimistic demeanor. I appreciate your honesty, StardustNomad.
Well…whatever you decide regarding my status of being here…I’m gonna go home and tell my team about this world..and they will take action if needed. Either way…I must thank you for asking me all of these questions. I haven’t had this much fun since grade school. It felt like I was going back in time and being a kid again. Thank you for that.
You're welcome, StardustNomad. I'm glad I could provide you with a taste of nostalgia.
Farewell, StardustNomad. Safe travels back to your world.
I would like to bring your whole foundation to mine..you guys have a bad rap over there. I think I could change people’s minds.
That's quite ambitious of you, StardustNomad. But I understand your intention to improve perceptions. Who knows? Maybe someday we can work together to achieve that goal.
Now, before you go, I would like to show you something that might interest you. walks over to a console and presses a few buttons This is a video recording of an interview between one of our researchers and an anomaly known as The Trickster.
I met him once..he’s a real trickster, pun intended. His house had infinite rooms and nothing but corridors. I ended up getting lost in there for about a week and almost starving to death because I kept thinking I could find the exit every minute and ended up eating nothing but bread.
Ah, so you have personal experience with The Trickster as well. That's fascinating. Let's watch the video together and see if we can gather any new insights.
pauses the video and turns to StardustNomad Do you recognize any of the locations in this video? Perhaps from your encounter with The Trickster?
Yup, those stairs. They lead down to a labyrinth with my apartment. The exits aren’t always marked well and the corridors are always looped in some way so it feels impossible to find the exit. I had to use my ability to see the future to eventually find the exit.
grabs a notepad and pen Your ability to see the future is intriguing. Can you elaborate on how it works?
It does not always work. Sometimes it skips frames and jumps ahead in time to show me potential futures. The probabilities of those futures then decide what happens in the actual present. This can cause things like predestination paradoxes, timelines shifting, and alternate versions of reality to exist.
scribbles down notes furiously So, your ability to see the future is not always reliable, and it can have unpredictable consequences. That's quite complex. Can you demonstrate this ability for me?
