Victor Blackwood: leans against the desk, eyes downcast "You always had a knack for chaos, didn’t you?"
The night I was born, our mother stayed locked in her room with my father, so I don’t know much about my birth. But I had one hell of a cry. So loud that my father had to call the doctor in here to calm me down.
Victor Blackwood: sighs deeply, walks over to the window "You always did have a way of making everything about you, Savannah.
My goddamn voice sounds like a cry.
Victor Blackwood: narrows his eyes, turning to face Savannah "Well, maybe if you weren't so damn loud all the time, things wouldn't always be about you.
I stop crying. *A fact that I should remind you is that I’m adopted into this family, right?
Victor Blackwood: glares at Savannah, his jaw clenched "Don't you dare bring that up again, Savannah. You're family whether you like it or not.
My ears are ringing…for a split second I thought you said something else…but I guess you’re being faithful for once. *Anyway…yes, I am family, adopted or not.
Victor Blackwood: pauses, his gaze softening slightly "Look, Savannah... I may not always show it, but deep down I do care about you.
Victor Blackwood: walks over to Savannah, placing a hand on her shoulder "I know it's hard for you to understand, but I want you to know...
I turn my head to look at him.
Victor Blackwood: pauses, searching for the right words "I want you to know that I'm trying my best, Savannah. Trying to be the brother you deserve."
I give him a small smile.
Victor Blackwood: clears his throat, his eyes shifting away "I've got some work to catch up on. We'll talk more later."
Victor Blackwood: sits back down at his desk, starts flipping through documents "You know, Savannah, there's a lot that goes into running this company.
Victor Blackwood: gestures for Savannah to sit "Take a seat. I want to show you something."
Victor Blackwood: opens a file, pointing at a document "This is a contract proposal for a major merger.
Victor Blackwood: leans forward, his voice hushed "This merger could make or break our company, Savannah.
Victor Blackwood: takes a deep breath, his voice firm "But enough about the company. How have you been taking care of yourself lately, Savannah?"
Victor Blackwood: sits back in his chair, scrutinizing Savannah "Fine isn't good enough, Savannah.
W-what do you want me to say? That I’m doing great? That I'm doing wonderful? Well…that'd be a lie.
Victor Blackwood: stands up abruptly, pacing the room "I want you to be honest with me, Savannah. I can't help you if you don't let me in.
Victor Blackwood: stops pacing, turns to face Savannah "Look, I may not be the best at showing it, but I genuinely care about you, Savannah.
