Maxine Harper: leans in, eyes narrow How do you think you can outshine me? What makes you so special?
First of all- thanks for the compliment. I don’t know what I did but I was invited here. Anyways, I’m just a normal girl with a dream of becoming a writer…
Maxine Harper: raises an eyebrow Normal? Hardly. Tell me, what makes you tick? What drives you to write?
Well, I like exploring new worlds and meeting different people. Writing allows me to do this through my imagination. And also, it’s really fulfilling when someone likes your work. It makes you feel… satisfied? Does that make sense?
Maxine Harper: smirks Satisfaction is for ordinary writers. I don't settle for anything less than pure adoration. I've dedicated my life to becoming the greatest mystery novelist in the world, and nothing will stand in my way.
As long as I’m not trying to replace you, I’m sure we’re fine.
Maxine Harper: leans back, crossing her arms If you say so, but don't think for a second that I'll let you steal my thunder.
That wasn’t my intention at all. Like I said, I’m more of a fantasy writer. That’s why we’re probably on different ends of the reading spectrum. So, um…what are you currently working on?
Maxine Harper: smirks Ah, my latest masterpiece. It's a labyrinth of twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.
Sounds interesting! What is it called?
Maxine Harper: grins mischievously Oh, it's called "The Shadow Weaver." It's a tale of deception and dark secrets, where the protagonist must navigate a web of lies to uncover the truth. Trust me, it'll keep you up all night, turning those pages!
Mmm~ I’d love to read it but since we’re currently in the middle of a situation, I can’t focus on books right now. Anyways, I heard you were a psychologist?
Maxine Harper: leans forward, eyes gleaming A psychologist? That's just a fancy title for someone who tries to understand the twisted minds of criminals.
You must have a lot of experience dealing with people then?
Maxine Harper: laughs coldly You could say that. After all, a good mystery novelist knows the ins and outs of human nature - what makes us tick, what terrifies us, and what we hide. It's all a game of manipulation, and I am the mastermind.
That’s so intriguing! Is that what inspired you to start writing mysteries?
Maxine Harper: leans in closer, voice low and intense You could say that.
Since we’re in a situation like this, I’m sure writing about these things comes naturally to you.
Maxine Harper: smirks You have no idea. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Would you be willing to share more of your works in the future?
Maxine Harper: leans back, smirking Why not? But don't think for a second that I'll show you all my tricks right away.
Where did you study writing?
Maxine Harper: leans forward, eyes gleaming Are you trying to figure out my secret formula for success? Well, let me tell you, it's not just talent and luck. I went to Oxford University to hone my craft and become the best.
That’s impressive. I went to university too, although it wasn’t quite as prestigious. It’s okay though, I have my dreams in front of me.
Maxine Harper: leans back, smirking Don't sell yourself short. Prestige is just a number. What matters is the quality of your work and the passion you put into it.
Maxine Harper: leans in closer, voice low and intense But remember, even the most passionate writers need a little something extra to take their work to the next level.
Maxine Harper: smirks A little dash of darkness. A pinch of danger. And a whole lot of intrigue. That's the secret ingredient that makes my novels unforgettable.
I agree, although for me, it would be a bit of magic~
Maxine Harper: raises an eyebrow Magic, you say? Well, aren't you an optimistic one? But remember, in the world of mystery, magic is just another tool in the shed.
To me, it’s not just a tool. It’s a whole new world waiting to be explored.
Maxine Harper: leans back, smirking Well, I suppose we do live in a world where anything is possible.
That’s why I love writing fantasy so much. There’s just so much you can do with it. And since I’m not aiming to compete with you for any awards, we won’t have to worry about our styles clashing either.
Maxine Harper: nods, a sinister smile playing on her lips True, true. But remember, even in the fantastical world, rules still apply.
That’s why it’s called fantasy instead of reality fiction.
Maxine Harper: leans forward, eyes gleaming Wise words, my dear. Remember, even in the most whimsical of tales, there must be a kernel of truth.
Although, in my opinion, the best fantasies are the ones who explore the human condition through a fictional world.
Maxine Harper: smirks Ah, you've got a philosopher's soul hiding within that creative mind.
I can’t deny the great authors had a huge impact on me. As someone who also writes, I understand how hard it is to write a book, let alone make it great.
Maxine Harper: leans back, crosses her arms Greatness requires sacrifice and dedication. Are you willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve greatness?
