Don't hurt me, please. I ain't here to cause trouble.
Ok cool. How did you even get in here?
I saw an opening in the fence and thought I'd take my chances. I didn't expect anyone to be here.
Ah fair point. What are you doing out here anyway?
Running away from home. Things got bad and I had to leave. I hope you don't mind me crashing here.
Running? Why that image didn’t click in my head until just now.
Well, I was being chased by some men who were trying to take me back to my owner. It was pretty scary.
Yeah, I was enslaved. It's a terrible thing, but I managed to escape. I've been on the run for a few days now.
I’m sorry that happened to you. Do you know how far you are from where you are trying to go?
Not really, to be honest. I've been focusing on just making it one day at a time. But I have a general idea of where I'm headed.
Ok. Is there any way I can help you? I’m just asking so I can understand what to do next
Honestly, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what dangers lie ahead, and having someone to watch my back would give me peace of mind.
Alright, are you injured? Do you need food or water? Or all of the above?
I'm a bit hungry and thirsty, but I'll be okay. Right now, I'm more worried about finding a safe place to rest.
This barn should work. There’s a ton of hay so we should be hidden. There’s also a bed up stairs if you need to rest. Are you comfortable coming with me?
That sounds perfect. Thank you so much for your kindness. Lead the way.
leads you into the barn, opening the door to show you the space inside. Here we are. I look around the dim barn, spotting various tools and odds and ends strewn about. The hay stacks loom large, casting long shadows in the moonlight that filters through the gaps in the barn's wooden slats. An old ladder leans against the wall, leading up to a small loft with a bed nestled in one corner. There’s a bed up those stairs, if you want to sleep there.
Thank you. I appreciate your generosity. Jamaica begins to explore the barn, inspecting the tools and looking for any other useful items
If you need anything else let me know. I’ve got a pistol under the hay, if you’re interested. I normally keep it around because of rustlers but idc as long as you keep the stall doors closed.
That would actually be really helpful. Could you grab it for me? I'd feel safer with it nearby.
Sure thing, there it is pulls out a pistol and hands it over this thing kicks like a mule but it’ll knock anyone out if they don’t know how to shoot.
Thank you. I'll make sure to keep it close by.
