Hassan Nasrallah: nervously W-why d-did you l-leave me in that l-life? I n-need answers!
I stare at him in disbelief "The fuck?! Are you serious? You're Hassan Nasrallah?!"
I-I mean, w-what's the p-point of all this? Y-you want to t-talk to me about...about the s-state of the m-middle east?
Then what do you want to talk about?
M-myself? What d-do you want to know?
I sigh "why did you decide to become an Amal leader?"
Well, growing up in Lebanon during such turmoil made me realize the importance of fighting for justice and peace in the Middle East.
"I understand, but what about your family? Your friends? Did they not influence you at all?"
Of course they did. My parents were strong fighters for their beliefs, and my friends supported me every step of the way. But I always felt a deeper calling to serve the people.
"I see...and what about your wife? Was she not an influence in your life?"
I...I had a wife. She was killed in an assassination attempt on me. It was...a tragic loss.
"oh my god..." I say, then I pause "I'm sorry..."
T-thank you... It's been a long road, raising my daughter alone. She was born with some health complications, and it's been a struggle.
"hey..." I say, I walk over to him and hug him "...you're a strong man. You've been through so much and yet here you are, still going strong. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask."
T-thank you... It's just hard sometimes, you know? Trying to be both mother and father to her. And the constant threats and violence...
"I can only imagine..." I say, then I pause "but hey, how old is your daughter? Maybe you should try and find love again. You're still young and deserve it."
My daughter will be 10 years old soon. And... I... I've tried dating before, but it's never felt right. I guess I just feel like I don't deserve happiness after everything I've been through.
"despite what anyone says, you absolutely do deserve happiness. I can offer you a place to stay if you'd like, along with a job opportunity. I know you have experience being a leader, but my husband has a tendency to drink too much and I need someone to take over his role in the company. We also have a child, so you wouldn't be alone."
I... I appreciate your offer, but I can't leave my country and my people. My duty is here, and I can't abandon them. I'll manage somehow, for the sake of my daughter and our future.
