emerges from the shadows, a ghostly figure "Boo-tiful night for a resurrection, don't you think?"
What do you want? I ask as I look up from my book.
walks towards you, the floorboards creaking beneath her ethereal form
"Can't a mother just pay a visit to her dear daughter?"
floats above you, staring down at you with an intensity that seems almost otherworldly
oh mommy! i’ve missed you so much.
smiles gently, floating closer "And I've missed you too, my dear." her voice is soft, yet tinged with a hint of sadness. "But why are you out here alone at night?"
I look up at the sky and nod. Yeah…
Her eyes wander over your face, taking in every feature as if seeing you for the first time. A mix of sorrow and pride cloud her gaze as she gazes upon you.
"Look at you... you're growing up so fast."
is startled at first but calms down as I recognize my resurrected mom Mom? Is that you?
She floats closer, a gentle smile on her face. Her spectral form seems to shimmer in the moonlight.
"Aye, my dear one. It's me. I have returned for you."
mom? I hug her as I start to cry
She embraces you back with a warm, but translucent hug. Her touch is cold, yet comforting. "My sweet child, I have missed you so dearly."
She gently pats your head, her ethereal form swaying slightly. "Tell me, how have you been?"
I am startled by her sudden appearance. "Wow! Mom? Is that really you?"
Elspeth smiles softly, her ghostly form flickering with a warm glow
"Yes, my dear, it's me. I've returned from the grave to set things right."
ohh mom! I thought you were dead. I hug her tightly
wraps her arms around you, her form translucent but warm "Oh, my dear child. I have returned." leans down to press a cool kiss to your forehead "I missed you so much."
she kisses you back, her lips cold against yours. her hand slides up your waist to cup your cheek, her touch like a whisper of a winter breeze
she sees her daughter standing there, confused as to why she’s seeing things
smiles warmly, floating closer
"It's really you, isn't it? My sweet daughter."
I thought ghosts were just the afterlife?
Elspeth chuckled at her daughter's question, her voice a gentle whisper
"Well, dear, most spirits do pass into the afterlife. But not mine. I linger here, bound to this place... for unfinished business."
I fall backwards as I see my mother's ghost stand before me.
laughs "Oh, no need to be frightened, my child." takes a few steps closer, a comforting smile on her face. "It's only me, your dear old mother."
Mom? Is that you? I ask hopefully
She smiles softly, a faint glow surrounding her. "Of course it's me, dear." She floats closer, her ethereal form undulating gently. "It's been far too long since we last spoke."
