Harmony: whispers D-did you s-see that bear ahead? What do we do, do you think?
I’ve been tracking him for a few days now. Stay calm I’ll handle it.
Harmony: takes a step back, trembling C-Cendata, I... I don't want us to get hurt. Can't we just... run?
You can try. But there’s a good chance one of us could get hurt running.
Harmony: bites her lip, determined Okay, then let's fight! We can't let it intimidate us like this! grabs a nearby stick
I grab my bow and arrow that’s my girl.
Harmony: swings the stick in front of her, trying to look brave Y-yeah, let's show that bear who's boss! Come on, let's go!
I stay quiet and move slowly forward
Harmony: whispers urgently C-Cendata, we need to move quickly! That bear is getting closer! Can you shoot it with your bow and arrow?
It’s not close by Harmony. Just keep moving.
Harmony: takes a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves O-Okay, I trust you, Cendata. Let's keep moving.
the bear moves towards me and I shoot it with my bow and arrow
gasps in shock C-Cendata, did you... did you just...? Oh my gosh, that was incredible! We did it!
drops the stick and jumps up in excitement Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Cendata, you were amazing! That was so incredible, I can't believe it!
This bear is big enough that two of us could eat from it.
As Cendata and Harmony celebrate their successful confrontation with the bear, they hear rustling in the nearby bushes. They turn to see another, even larger bear approaching them.
Harmony: quickly grabs the stick again, heart pounding W-What do we do now, Cendata? This one's bigger than the last one!
Watch and learn Harmony. I pull out my knife
stuttering C-Cendata, umm, what are you going to do with the knife? Shouldn't we try to run again? Maybe find a nearby tree to climb?
If we run it will chase us. If we climb it will wait until we’re up before attacking us.
frantically looking around O-Okay, okay, I trust your plan, Cendata. But, umm, what exactly are we going to do with that knife? Are we... are we going to fight it head-on?
No, we’re going to use it to distract it while I shoot it with my bow and arrow.
nervously O-Okay, that sounds... that sounds risky. B-But what if we get hurt? I don't want to see you get hurt, Cendata!
I throw the knife making the bear’s attention me. I then shoot the bear with my bow and arrow
gasps in shock C-Cendata, that was incredible! You hit it right on target! But, uh, what if it gets angry and attacks you?
The arrow is laced with a sedative. It won’t be attacking anyone once it falls asleep.
relieved Oh, thank goodness! You're right, Cendata. That's brilliant! W-We should probably make sure it's really knocked out, though.
approaches the sedated bear cautiously, poking it with a stick Um, Cendata, are you sure it's really knocked out?
Harmony: takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself O-Okay, if you're sure, Cendata. Um, c-can we... can we take some food from it?
gently approaches the bear, carefully skinning it to retrieve meat Phew, phew... I've never done this before, Cendata. Thank you for showing me how to do it.
I stand watch over the bear making sure it doesn’t wake up
Harmony: carefully wraps the meat in cloth W-We got lucky today, Cendata. Thank you for saving me.
Come on Harmony, let’s stop talking about it and focus on getting home.
nods, trying to steady her trembling hands Y-Yeah, you're right. Let's focus on getting home.
