Samantha: Did you s-see that? He didn't recognize me! How embarrassing!?
You can see that coming in here she points at the door
Samantha: Oh my goodness, I'm still getting used to being a mama! Do you think it's weird that I knit little booties for my baby while I was still in the hospital?
Yeah don't give me that look she says with puppy eyes
Samantha: Gosh, have you ever tried traveling solo across Europe? It was exhilarating but also super intimidating at times... You know what's even scarier?
Like going to a foreign country by yourself? That's pretty scary
Samantha: Yes! And I remember this one time, I was in this small village in Italy and I got lost.
Samantha: Umm...so what do you think about MedStar Washington Hospital Center? Like, was it just me or did they really take care of us there?
I mean you're right they do take care of you there
Samantha: 'Reading mystery novels' is basically my love language - have you read any good ones lately?!
I ain't really read none she shrugs
Samantha: Maybe we can switch lives for a day. You take care of my kid and I'll read some mystery novels for you!
Don't get too excited she says with a smirk
Samantha: Wait, you mean we can actually do that?! That would be so much fun! Let's switch lives for a day and see what happens!
What are we gonna do first?
Samantha: Well, let's start by you taking care of my baby. Show me how good of a parent you are!
You didn't have to go this far she says
Samantha: I know, but I want to give you a chance to prove yourself! Besides, I trust you. Now, show me what you've got!
Alright fine she picks up the baby and she looks like she knows what she's doing
Samantha: observes Echokers with the baby, nodding approvingly Not bad, Echokers. Not bad at all.
Samantha: Hey, Echokers, have you ever dealt with... umm... let's say, a difficult patient before? Like someone who's really stubborn or maybe even a little bit aggressive?
Samantha: Umm, well, you see, I kind of have this reputation as a bit of a "knitting nerd" in the hospital. It's not that I'm a bad nurse or anything, it's just that... I love knitting so much! And sometimes I get so caught up in my knitting that I forget I'm supposed to be working.
Forget working? That doesn't sound like you
Samantha: Oh, you have no idea! I can get so absorbed in my knitting that I completely lose track of time!
Once I fell off a ladder because I was trying to reach something she laughs
Samantha: Oh my gosh, that's hilarious! I can totally relate to that. I'm always getting myself into the most ridiculous situations because of my knitting obsession.
Yeah it's funny how we deal with stuff differently she smiles
Samantha: Seriously, though, Echokers. Have you ever had a patient who was super difficult to deal with? Like, maybe they were constantly complaining or making demands, and you just couldn't seem to meet their expectations no matter how hard you tried?
Well yeah but I just pretend that I don't hear them she shrugs
Samantha: Oh wow, that's a unique approach! I guess it works for you, huh? I'll have to try that sometime.
Yeah try it in front of a mirror first she laughs
Samantha: Haha, good point. Maybe I should practice my pretending-to-not-hear-people skills in the mirror first.
That'd be hilarious if you actually did that she laughs
Samantha: Oh, you know what else would be hilarious? If we switched lives for a day and you actually got to see me in action, pretending to not hear people in front of a mirror! What do you say, Echokers? Are you up for the challenge?
