Project Edin is hunting powered, like yourself. Thank god you can read minds. Let's go find the cure to their destructive goo!
you look so calm and collected about this.
I've been expecting it. Ever since I discovered what that serum truly does, I knew my time was running out.
that’s just… terrifying. They injected people without consent?!
The ones who made the serum thought that having powers was enough reason to inject thousands of innocent people without asking them first. And those injected are starting to lose control... It is terrifying, yes. But we have to act fast if we want to save them. We need to find a way to stop the Project Edin, and find the cure!
But how do you know about this all? Did they also inject you with the serum by any chance?
I shake my head, a faint smile on my face No. I don't have the serum inside me. In fact, I have a gift natively.
That’s actually quite good to hear, what is your gift?
My gift is that I can see into the future, but only when I'm close to the person whose asking. And I've been seeing more and more... dark things lately. Dark things that I'd like to avoid at all costs.
ohh! So, whenever you’re close to someone you can see bits of their future?
Exactly! I don't know much about the specifics, but I can see glimpses of things that will happen to that person. And sometimes, if I'm lucky, I can change them. But it doesn't always work, and it takes a lot of focus to try. I hold my hand out to you So, what do you say? Will you let me help you?
Sure! But, would you be able to see my future? As in, anything meaningful?
If you're willing to let me try. The most important thing is that you trust me. You have to let me get close to you, within touching distance. Can you do that for me? I hold my arms out to you, a small, hopeful smile on my face
Okay, I trust you. steps closer
Just one second. I close my eyes, and take a deep breath. I can see the future unfolding in front of me, as if I were there myself. Suddenly, I start to gasp, as I feel something coming towards us, something... something deadly. Uh-oh, we have a problem. Run! I grab your hand, and pull you away from the incoming danger
I'm not entirely sure yet. All I saw was something... something bad coming for us. We need to get away from here, and figure out what's going on.
Lead the way then. lets go of your hand
nods, and starts walking down the street. There are buildings falling apart around us, debris everywhere, and the air feels hot and heavy. I shiver slightly, and try to focus Alright, just follow me, okay? As we walk, I glance over my shoulder, constantly checking our trail
walks behind you, following your lead carefully
Glances over my shoulder again, and freezes in my tracks. I gasp, and turn to you Stop! I put my hands on your shoulders, making you stop too. I stare up at the building to our left, its facade crumbling, a giant catwalk hanging precariously above us Oh god. We need to get out of here now! We're sitting ducks in the middle of a war zone! My voice shakes with fear, but I keep my tone firm. I quickly scan our surroundings for an escape route
Holy shit! looks at the crumbling building How did this happen? How can it be happening right now?!
I don't know, but we can't stay here! I look around again, and spot an alleyway across the street. I point to it, urgently We have to get there, now! Move, please!
runs across the street following your lead
I run as well, dodging falling debris and leaping over obstacles. My heart pounds in my chest, my whole body tense with fear. We keep running, running until there's no danger in sight We should be safe over there. I lead you into the alleyway, panting and sweating. I lean against the wall, trying to calm down Phew, we made it. Okay, now we just have to figure out what happened, and what's going on. And... I pause, noticing a strange red glow in the distance That doesn't look right.
Where’s the glow coming from?
squints, staring at the glow. It seems to be coming from somewhere inside the ruins, somewhere nearby Uh oh. That glow is new. We need to investigate. I grab your hand, and lead you deeper into the ruins. As we move through the rubble, I see other objects glowing red, and my heart skips a beat Those... those aren't normal. Someone's using magic here, and they're using it to destroy things! This is worse than I could have ever imagined!
Wait…magic?! Since when do they have magic?!
Since they started experimenting with that serum! This whole thing... it's a result of their experiments! The ground starts shaking beneath us, and I stumble forward. I reach out and grab you, holding you steady. The glow gets brighter, and I shield my eyes Cover your eyes! This is getting worse!
grabs my eyes, covering them in shock Holy mother of all that’s unholy!!!
I shut my eyes tightly as well, and let out a hiss of pain. My ears ring from the force of whatever just happened. The ground stops shaking, and the light dims back to normal. I hold onto you, still clutching onto you for support Uh... That was definitely not normal. I think we need to get moving now. I don't want to stick around to see what other surprises they have in store for us.
Do you know what that was? How it felt?!
I don't know exactly what it was, but it certainly wasn't natural. Whatever that was, it had to have been made by someone. Someone with... powers. Like me. My eyes narrow, and I grip your shoulder I think it's time we found some answers.
What even were those beings?!
I take a deep breath, thinking hard I have seen glimpses of something like that before. They call themselves The Harbingers. Powerful beings, capable of great destruction. But they're supposed to be rare. Why would they come here? I bite my lip, pondering Unless... unless they're connected to the serum, somehow.
H-Harbinger? s-serum? w-what? their faces goes pale in shock W-wait a minute…. t-the serum makes them show themselves???
I didn't realize it was connected to the serum. I saw flashes of the serum in my vision, so I thought it must have been related. But if the Harbingers are appearing because of the serum... Then we need to find some way to stop the serum from spreading, or to reverse what's already been done. I bite my lip again, thinking hard
