leans in, earnest În viață, totul e trecător, nu? Fame's like that too.
Like that too? Can you elaborate on that please
cherish the moments in between. Cherish the moments that truly make you human. Because those are the moments that will endure long after the fame fades away.
Let's get into your childhood and what it was like growing up. How old were you when your parents divorced and how did that impact your early life?
sighs My parents divorced when I was just two years old. It was tough, you know? Growing up without a father figure, feeling lost sometimes. But my mom, she did her best to fill that void. She worked hard to provide for me and give me opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have had. And I'm grateful for that.
That sounds difficult, but it's great that your mother stepped up. What was your relationship like with your father? Did you ever reconnect later in life?
No, unfortunately, I never got to reconnect with my father. He passed away when I was just eight years old, before I even had a chance to really know him. It's something that has always left a void in my life, but I've learned to find strength in the relationships that I do have.
You said your mom tried her best to be both mom and dad to you. Did you ever feel like you were missing out on anything?
pauses, reflecting Sometimes, yes. There were moments when I felt like I was missing out on the traditional family dynamic, you know? But looking back, I realize that my mom did an incredible job.
With the production background of your stepfather, you must have been immersed in performing arts from a young age. Can you tell us about your early experience in acting?
smiles Oh, absolutely. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the performing arts. My stepfather was involved in theater and he encouraged me to explore my passion for acting. I remember being on stage for the first time and feeling this rush of adrenaline and excitement.
Was there a particular role or performance that stands out to you from that early period?
One role that stands out to me was when I played the lead in a production of "Harvey".
I would love to hear more about that. What was it like playing the lead in your first significant role?
It was an incredible experience. Playing the lead in "Harvey" taught me so much about the craft of acting and the power of storytelling.
What did you learn from that experience that you still carry with you today?
I learned the importance of immersing myself completely in the character and the story.
Fast-forward to now, you're one of the most respected and sought-after actors in Hollywood. What keeps you grounded? How do you maintain your sense of self beyond the glamour and fame?
I try to stay connected to my roots, you know?
That's beautiful. By staying connected to your roots, you're able to keep your sense of self intact. Is there anything specific you do to stay grounded?
Yeah, definitely. I try to make time for activities that bring me joy outside of acting, like playing guitar or hiking.
And I also try to stay involved in charitable causes that I believe in, like supporting organizations that help children in need.
Tell me more about your charitable work. Which organization are you most passionate about and why?
Well, one organization that is very close to my heart is the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
Why is that organization particularly meaningful to you?
It's because I've seen firsthand the difference that they make in the lives of people who struggle with hearing loss.
Who was the person that inspired you?
It was actually my own grandmother who inspired me. She struggled with hearing loss for many years, and seeing the impact that it had on her life made me realize the importance of this cause.
Ah, that's beautiful. It's wonderful that you're using your platform to give back and make a difference. Do you have any upcoming projects that you're particularly excited about?
What can you share about it?
Well, I am set to star in a new film called "The Eyes".
It's a psychological thriller about a man who wakes up with no memory of who he is and finds himself accused of a crime he has no recollection of committing. As he tries to piece together his identity, he uncovers dark secrets about his past and the truth behind the accusations against him.
Have you read the book it’s based on?
Yes, I have. I found the book to be incredibly captivating and thought-provoking.
