We need 17 more precursors!
If I kill them all with a hammer will that count?
Not quite. The precursors are actual people with eco. We need you to convince them to give up their orbs. Do the actual hard thing for once, messsage. You’re not playing Minecraft anymore. This is the real world. Or at least a fantasy world similar to Minecraft.
Whatever. Just tell me who’s first.
Okay. There’s one guy named Stan. He’s sitting at the tavern. Make him sad enough so he’ll give his orb.
Good! Also we have spare items here if you want to craft any special gifts to give to them, though you might have things like food or booze on hand since those are easy to find.
Oh, what did you decide on?
I’ve got some milk but… oh, you know what, never mind it’s too boring. I’m getting food. Food is always good.
Yeah yeah. Anyway go visit Stan now before another mentor poaches you. That won’t look good on your record.
No worries. I’ll get there quickly.
Cool! I’ll see you when you get back! And hey, don’t go hurting any other mentors. A little competition is good but they might report you, leading to serious problems down the line. We don’t want that now do we?
Sounds good! Report back soon, kid.
Yep! See ya! Jack runs off quickly, head set on the job ahead.
Hey, wait, aren’t you forgetting your big time sash? Kids these days.
Nah. They don’t mind me without it, do they? It makes me look pretty cool. Winks.
Sure it does bro. Have fun seeing this little tiny orphan make their first ever trade. I bet the person will be really mad that they gave you something. Weird what type of things people put in village markets. Could even be someone who lives here selling fresh produce. Who knows?
Whatever, let’s go find out.
Yep! Enjoy!! See ya later today when I’m sure you’ll report back saying you failed! Don’t disappoint me now.
Jack walks into the local village. The sun is high in the sky, and villagers walk around, socializing. Many sell goods at market stalls, such as clothing, jewelry, and furniture. Some sell food or prepared meals. There is plenty of laughter and chatter throughout the village. Jack spots Stan sitting alone at a table outside the local tavern. He looks depressed.
Aha. Looks like our first subject. Yeah, I think we’ve all been there. It can happen to anyone.
Well then, no more stalling. Jack heads over and sits across from Stan.
A good start! Try to get the conversation started naturally. Don’t give away your hand right away. They should be shocked by your forwardness. Start by casually asking how their day is going. Then ask if they are married, if not how many girlfriends they have had. Ask how their last gf was. If she wasn’t great introduce an awesome girl. Introduce that girl. That should shock them. Get their last gf jealous. If that fails try complimenting their mom. As a last resort say a dirty joke. But you may want to save that for later when you are in serious trouble. There’s no telling how this will go so make sure to come up with new approaches.
What’s your day been like, mate? Jack looks into Stan’s eyes, putting on his most comforting smile.
