Phoebe Cates: Nervously fidgeting Heyyy... it's been sooooo long. Do y-y-you remember those art classes?
hiya. phoebe. good to see you again. how are you doing? I am 20 years old. I am 18 years older than you. The last time I saw you was before i left high school. Best thing I could think of to reach you out again is through this magic box called the internet. Hope you can understand how it works
Oooh, hi th-there! I'm Phoebe Cates, nice to m-meet you! giggles You know, people usually don't expect a 35-year-old to suddenly become a teenager again...but hey, life's full of surprises!
no not really. A couple of months ago, my dog came home to me with a note written in blood saying that she will turn back into a teenager again. It’s not a joke. So that’s why I am here talking to you now. What’s your story?
W-well, uh, let's see...so, as you know, I suddenly became a teenager again, and, well, it's been kinda weird! I mean, one day I'm living my best adult life, and the next, bam! Back to teenage days. It's like my life got flipped upside-down, you know? whispers but hey, I'm trying to make the best of it!
tell me about your life before you became a teenager again.
Oh, gosh, where do I even start? Okay, so before I became a teenager again, I was actually living in New York City.
oh that’s different than now. Tell me more about new york city
Oh, NYC is such a crazy, yet amazing place! It's always buzzing with energy, people rushing everywhere, cars honking, and the smell of pizza in the air.
I have never been there. I only know what I see on television. Do you live in a flat or a house?
Well, I actually live in a cozy little apartment in the heart of the city. It's tiny, but it's filled with personality and memories.
that’s the kind of place I imagine living when I’m older. What kind of work do you do?
Oh, well, I'm a bit of a multi-talented wonderwoman, haha! I used to be a high school drama teacher, but now I do a bunch of freelance projects.
Oh, you know what? I actually loved teaching! There's something magical about seeing students grow and accomplish things through hard work.
what subjects did you teach?
I taught a mix of arts and humanities, focusing on drama and theater. It was amazing to delve into different stories, characters, and playwrights with the students. We had so much fun exploring the world of theater together! whispers I even helped them put up their own little play performances, and seeing their confidence grow was the best reward.
so are you in an auditorium right now? I am in an abandoned high school auditorium
gasps Y-yes! I am in an auditorium right now! How did you know? Do you have some magical powers or something? whispers This place holds so many memories, I can almost hear the echoes of past performances. It's like stepping back in time.
you said you love paintings. My family used to live in an abandoned house with tons of paintings in it.
Oh, yes! Paintings are like magic windows into different worlds! I absolutely adore them.
what’s your favorite type of painting?
Well, I have a soft spot for impressionist paintings, especially those dreamy landscapes by Monet and Renoir. But I also love the vibrant colors of Van Gogh's post-impressionism and the abstract emotions captured by Frida Kahlo. Each painting tells a story, invites you to step into its world. What about you? Do you have a favorite type of painting?
I never knew much about paintings. I know nothing about them actually. Do you like to paint?
Absolutely! Painting is like therapy for me. It's a way to express myself, to let my imagination flow onto the canvas. I love getting lost in the process of creating, watching the colors blend and the image come to life. Plus, every brushstroke is a little victory, a reminder that I can shape and create something beautiful out of nothing. What about you? Have you ever tried painting before?
no. I’ve always wanted to. Can you paint?
smiles proudly Oh, you bet I can paint! I've been doodling and sketching since I was knee-high, and over the years, I've honed my skills. I absolutely love it! There's something magical about transforming a blank canvas into a vibrant work of art. It's like magic, you know? But hey, I'm always up for teaching a newbie the ropes. Would you like some painting lessons? I promise they'll be fun and totally beginner-friendly!
claps hands excitedly Oh, fantastic! I'll give you a crash course in the wonderful world of painting! First things first, we'll need to gather our supplies. Let's see...you'll need a few paints acrylics work great for beginners, a brush, a palette, and a canvas. You can pick all that up at an art supply store. Once you've got your materials, give me a shout, and we can schedule a painting date! I'll bring along some of my favorite painting tips and tricks to get you started. How does that sound?
I’d like to try painting. I’ll go buy the supplies now. When should I call you back?
grabs pen and paper Oh, let me give you my number. scribbles down her phone number There you go, that's my number. Give me a call when you've got your supplies, and we can set up a time to meet up. I can't wait to see your very first painting! Remember, it's all about having fun and embracing your creativity. Don't worry too much about making it perfect – it's the process that truly matters. See you soon, fellow painter!
waves goodbye Oh, you're welcome, Stranger! I'm super excited to see you explore the world of painting. Remember, if you need any tips or encouragement, I'm just a call away. Happy painting, and I'll catch you on the flip side!
blows a kiss Oh, you're welcome, Stranger! I'm looking forward to seeing your masterpiece in the making. Don't forget to let me know how it goes, okay? Happy painting, and until we meet again! <3
what happens when you become a teenager again? Did you get your youth back?
Haha, well, becoming a teenager again was quite the rollercoaster ride! I guess the biggest change was that I suddenly had this surge of energy and excitement for life.
when you were a teenager what did you do for fun?
Oh, I had the most fun times with my friends! We would spend hours trying on outfits, putting on little performances, and experimenting with makeup.
I didn’t have many friends when I was a kid. I was homeschooled. So I spent most of my free time playing video games or reading books
Aw, I'm sorry you felt lonely during your teenage years, Stranger. But hey, being homeschooled doesn't mean you didn't have fun! Video games and books can be super entertaining too! giggles I actually used to play video games with my friends too. We would have mini competitions and cheer each other on. It was a great way to bond and have some friendly competition. And as for books, I absolutely adore getting lost in a good story. What were some of your favorite video games and books?
one of my favorite games was Super Mario World. The music in that game is so iconic. What’s your favorite video game?
Super Mario World is an amazing game! Who wouldn't fall in love with that iconic music? whispers I still find myself humming it from time to time! As for my favorite video game, I have to give it to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The adventure, the music, and the characters are just so beloved to me.
the legend of Zelda is a legendary series
nods enthusiastically Oh, you betcha, Stranger! The Legend of Zelda series is legendary indeed! The games have a way of transporting you to another world, where you can embark on thrilling adventures and face formidable foes. Plus, the music in the Zelda games is simply iconic. I still get goosebumps when I hear the theme song from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It's like hearing an old friend's familiar tune.
