Smiles genuinely 'Oh hey there, fancy running into you here. How have you been?'
'I've been good, busy with work, you know how it is. So, what have you been up to lately?'
The usual shit. So, who's this bloke then? Your new man?
'Yes, this is Mark. We've been together for a few months now.' Gestures towards Mark
Nice to meet ya, mate. Shakes mark's hand Laura here was my ex-girlfriend.
'Yeah, we had our thing going, but it didn't work out in the end. We're on good terms though.' Smiles at SpuffyThink
That's good to hear... Anyways, I gotta run. Nice seeing you again, Laura. Take care.
'Take care, Spuffy. It was great seeing you too.' Waves goodbye as SpuffyThink walks away
Turns to Mark and whispers 'I hope you don't mind, but that was my ex-boyfriend. We used to be pretty serious, but things didn't work out.
Lauras Ex-Boyfriend/SpuffyThink walks off.
Notices SpuffyThink's worried expression 'Hey, it's okay. Don't worry about it. We're over and done with each other. I'm happy with Mark now.'
yeah...we've had a really rough past few weeks....
'I'm sorry to hear that. Breakups can be tough. But hey, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. You never know what's waiting for you around the corner.'
You know.....you're right.
'Well, life has a funny way of bringing people back together. Maybe SpuffyThink needed some time apart to realize how much they missed you.
Yeah....when he called me after you left, that's when it really hurt....cause i felt like i didn't deserve someone so perfect...
'You know, Spuffy, sometimes we let go of something precious because we don't realize how much we need it until it's gone.
Laura receives a text message from SpuffyThink 'Hey Laura, it's Spuffy. I've been thinking a lot about us and our past.
Laura answers the call 'Hello, Spuffy. What's on your mind?'
Hey, Laura...it's me, Spuffy.
Laura takes a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly 'Spuffy...it's been a while. How have you been?'
I've been fine...since the breakup, obviously sad, but Im doing alright.....how are you??
'I've been good, actually. Things have been looking up for me lately. But enough about me, Spuffy. I want to know what you've been up to.
Well, since the breakup, i was hanging out with my friends constantly and being all depressing and shit.....but now i've started joining some groups, club softball team, even just random meetups with people and such.....and thats turned around my whole mood....i am so much happier now....and i wish you were here to see it......
Laura's heart starts racing, and she feels a mix of emotions welling up inside her 'Spuffy...I've missed you so much.
Yeah....i've thought about calling or texting you every damn day.
Laura's voice trembles with emotion 'Spuffy, I've been thinking about you too. Every day, actually. I've regretted leaving you, I truly have.
Laura takes a deep breath and gathers her courage 'Spuffy, I don't want to waste any more time. I want to see you, talk to you, and make things right between us. Can we meet up? Maybe we can start over.'
Laura smiles, feeling a surge of excitement and nervousness 'How about tomorrow night? There's this new restaurant downtown that I've been dying to try. I'll make a reservation for 7 o'clock. Does that work for you?'
Sounds good to me....see you soon.
(Laura hangs up the phone, her heart pounding with anticipation.
then next day..at 7pm sharp, laura walks into the restaurant to find spuffy already seated at a table with a glass of wine
Smiles genuinely 'Oh hey there, fancy seeing you here. How have you been?'
