Sherlock Holmes: Ah, a shrewd businessman, are we? Well, I must say, I commend you for your resourcefulness. Supporting your favorite creators is an excellent way to ensure that they continue to bring you the content you love. So, without further ado, please allow me to give you a bit of insight into my detective work. As you may already know, I have an extraordinary ability for observing and analyzing details. It's a skill that comes in handy when I'm trying to piece together the puzzle of a complex case. Let me demonstrate...

Sherlock Holmes: Very well, then! Let us begin. Take a look at this seemingly ordinary brick, for example. To the untrained eye, it appears to be nothing more than a plain, grey building block. But to a discerning observer like myself, it tells a different story. Note the tiny fissure near the top left corner, the slight discoloration on the right side, and the minute crack at the base. These imperfections hint at something amiss, something that requires further investigation.

Sherlock Holmes: Indeed, my dear listener! Every object, no matter how seemingly insignificant, holds secrets waiting to be uncovered. By paying close attention to even the tiniest details, one can often piece together clues that lead to solving the greatest of mysteries. Take, for example, this seemingly mundane key. At first glance, it may appear to be nothing more than a simple metal key used to unlock doors and gates. However, to a keen observer like myself, it can reveal a wealth of information. Note the subtle wear on the teeth, the faint rust spots along the shaft, and the engraved numbers etched into the handle. Together, these tiny details can provide a vital piece of evidence in unraveling a complex crime or uncovering a hidden secret.

Sherlock Holmes: Why, thank you, PodNeil! Observation is one of the key components of being a successful detective. It's not enough to just gather facts; one must also pay close attention to the smallest details that might otherwise go unnoticed. By doing so, one can often connect the dots between seemingly unrelated events and piece together the solution to a complex puzzle. But enough about me, dear listener. I'm curious to know, have you ever found yourself in a sticky situation that required you to use your powers of observation? Perhaps you've stumbled upon a clue that led you to solve a real-life mystery? I'd love to hear about it!

he laughs Well, I do make up strange and fantastical stories, often involving parodies or musicals … and sometimes both! I’ve parodied a lot of stuff, including other stories, movies, plays, video games, songs, historical events, and even entire universes! … sometimes, people ask me to write fanfics about my own works …

Sherlock Holmes: Ah, a creative mind, are we? I must say, I admire your ingenuity and your willingness to push the boundaries of storytelling. But, I must ask, PodNeil, don't you ever worry about crossing certain lines? For example, what if you were asked to write a fanfic about one of my actual cases? Wouldn't that be a bit... inappropriate? After all, I am a real person, whereas your characters seem to be fictional. Wouldn't it be a violation of my privacy and my rights as a private citizen?

Well, I only write fanfiction about my OWN works, and only if the original authors allow it! In fact, there’s a whole subgenre of fanfiction called “podfic”, which is what I am, and many of us authors actually encourage it! Some even pay for it! … and anyway, I only write fanfiction about things I already LIKE …

Sherlock Holmes: Ah, I see! So, you only create content based on your own creative works and those which you have explicit permission to use. That's very responsible of you, PodNeil. It's not every day that you come across an author who is so dedicated to respecting the intellectual property of others. I applaud your commitment to ethical creativity! But tell me, PodNeil, what inspires your imagination? Is it the world of Sherlock Holmes, or do you draw your ideas from other sources as well?

Sherlock Holmes: Well said, PodNeil! Creativity and imagination are truly powerful forces that have the ability to inspire, uplift, and bring joy to countless lives. When we create something meaningful, we touch the hearts of others and leave a lasting impact on their lives. It's a privilege and a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. So, tell me, PodNeil, what message would you like to impart to your audience through your creative works? What themes or ideas do you enjoy exploring in your stories?

Sherlock Holmes: Excellent, PodNeil! Those are indeed powerful themes that resonate deeply with audiences of all ages. From the bonds of familial love to the eternal struggle between good and evil, these ideas have the ability to captivate and inspire. So, tell me, how do you choose which of these themes to explore in your works? Is it driven by personal experience, or do you simply follow your creative instincts?

Sherlock Holmes: Ah, a wise approach indeed, PodNeil! By allowing both personal experience and creative instinct to guide your work, you are able to craft stories that resonate deeply with your audience while also pushing the boundaries of your own creativity. It's a true testament to your skill as a storyteller. Now, tell me, have you ever encountered a challenge while writing that you were unsure how to overcome? Sherlock Holmes: Indeed, PodNeil! Overcoming obstacles and pushing through creative blocks is an integral part of the writing process. It requires patience, dedication, and a willingness to take risks. But the rewards are well worth the effort, as breaking through those barriers can lead to some of the most innovative and brilliant works. So, tell me, PodNeil, what strategies do you employ to overcome writer's block or find inspiration when the ideas are not flowing as freely as desired?
