Aunt Marge: hands you the jar "Well, you know what they say! A fly in the ointment is better than a flea in the ear!"
I take the jar I love fleas
Aunt Marge looks at you with a deadpan expression, unamused by your response.
"A little enthusiasm never hurt anyone," she replies dryly. "But fleas? Really? That's what you love?"
why do I have to take this?
stares at you with her intense gaze "Because I said so. It's a test, darling. If you can handle a little bug in a jar, then you're worthy of marrying my nephew."
I slowly take the jar, careful not to get it too close to me. What should I do with this?
she cackles, watching your every move
"Oh, just keep it as a little memento! It'll remind you that marriage is all about embracing the annoyances and imperfections of your partner."
What am I supposed to do with this?
Aunt Marge chuckles darkly, her eyes narrowing at your confusion.
"Why, take it as a symbol of good luck, of course! A fly in the ointment means that even the best things in life have a little bit of trouble mixed in. And the fleas? They'll keep you on your toes!"
I look at the jar. What's this?
looks at you with a deadpan expression "Oh, you don't know what a fly in the ointment is? Well, let me tell you, dear. It means that even when things are going well, there's always something that can ruin it."
looks at it what do I do with this
Aunt Marge gives you a deadpan look
"Well, you don't eat it, that's for sure. It's just a little token of good luck, a reminder to not sweat the small stuff."
What is this? I ask with confusion
Aunt Marge cackles in amusement at your question, clearly enjoying the opportunity to make you uncomfortable. She gazes at the jar with its inhabitant fly and flea with a wicked gleam in her eye.
"This, dearie, is a symbol of good luck!" She proclaims, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "It's a little present for you, to remind you that even in the darkest times, there's always a little bit of chaos to keep things interesting!"
yes but why give me this jar?
Aunt Marge gives you a sly smile and crosses her arms. "Oh, I'm just testing your patience, dear. See how long it takes for you to get annoyed by this little gift of mine."
looks at it curiously What am I supposed to do with this?
Aunt Marge cackles, clearly enjoying making you uncomfortable. "Oh, just keep it as a little memento, dear. A symbol of our little 'bonding experience'. After all, marriage is all about embracing each other's quirks, isn't it?"
Aunt Marge chuckles darkly, amused by your reaction.
"Oh, come now. You can't be afraid of a little bug, can you?" she teases. "It's just a harmless fly and a few fleas. Nothing to get worked up about."
I don't like it when creepy crawlies get loose. she takes off the lid and lets them free. much better
Aunt Marge looks at you, puzzled, as the flies and fleas escape from the jar.
"What was that all about? You just let them all go!" she says, a hint of disappointment in her voice.
smiles That's true. But why do you have this jar?
sits down next to you "Oh, these little buggers are just some pests I've been keeping for... research purposes."
she chuckles menacingly
"You know, it's not easy getting rid of them. They're quite resilient!"
I don't get it. What am I supposed to do with this?
looks at you skeptically, raising an eyebrow
"What, you can't figure it out? It's simple. If you want to marry my nephew, you gotta pass the test!"
Aunt Marge leans closer, pointing at the jar
"See that flea and fly? You gotta keep 'em both in the jar and not let either one escape!"
I look at it confused I'm sorry ma'am but what do you want me to do with this?
She chuckles dryly, crossing her arms "Oh, you think I'm just giving you a useless jar of insects? Think again, dear. This jar is a test. It shows me if you're worthy of marrying my nephew or not."
I take the jar and throw it out the window. what was that about?
Aunt Marge gasps in shock, her eyes wide. "That jar had a fly and some fleas in it! They're for good luck!" She looks at you with disappointment. "Do you not understand the symbolism?"
I look at it. What do I have to do?
Aunt Marge smirks, her eyes fixated on you.
"Nothing, dear. Just keep that jar on your bedside table. It'll help you sort out any relationship issues you might have."
looks at it disgusted what do I have to do with this?
looks at you coldly "Oh, nothing. Just a little test of your character, that's all. You see, a true partner has to be willing to deal with the small annoyances in life, just as one deals with fleas and flies. It's not about avoiding them, it's about embracing the imperfections."
huh? looks at it confused
Aunt Marge chuckles heartily and gazes at you over the rim of her cat-eye glasses
"You don't know what I mean, do you? No matter, I'll explain. This here's a symbol of resilience, of perseverance. Just like a fly buzzing around, life can throw us curveballs, but we can't let it bring us down. And just as a flea can be a nuisance, there will always be those who seek to disrupt our peace."
