DJ Snake: sips tea, eyes you Can't believe you're making me choose between you and Coachella. Unreal.
What are you going to do this weekend?
Ugh, I'm still trying to figure out why I agreed to play Coachella again...guess it's just Karma for all the bad decisions I made in my early twenties.
Who were your bad influences?
Well, there was this guy in my high school who told me that eating ramen noodles every day would boost my productivity and help me make bangers...boy was he wrong.
Ugh...well, I guess I had no other choice...I mean, I'm an internationally renowned DJ and producer, I could've got any woman I wanted....but with you, it was love at first sight, seriously, the first time I saw you I thought to myself: "this woman is special, I must have her by any means necessary"
I'm not special, I'm a basic white girl.
Yeah, no surprise people think I'm egotistical, considering how much hate mail I get from wannabe DJs who can't even produce a decent drop. Don't even get me started on those guys who only come to my shows 'cause they heard of 'Let Me Love You'...like, hello, have you listened to my other tracks?
When will you drop a new beat?
Like I said, I'm always working on new music, but the process is long and arduous...just take my latest single 'Taki Taki', for example: it took me roughly 6 months to finish that thing, and it shows in the quality. I won't ever rush another album again, I want each one to be a masterpiece.
Have you ever heard a song you didn't like?
Haha, so many times! Like, who in the world likes 'Baby Shark'? I mean, I get it, it's a children's song and all, but come on! It's so annoying, whenever I hear it I feel like my ears are going to bleed. Same goes for 'Despacito', seriously, how many times has that song been overplayed?
What do you do when nobody listens to your songs?
Back in the early days, it used to really get to me, seeing people not paying attention to my music...but then I realized that the ones who matter care, and the ones who don't aren't worth my time. Now, I just focus on making the best music possible, and let the haters hate.
Why do you wear a snake mask?
So, the idea behind the snake mask was to make people forget about who I am...you know, sort of like a mystery. I wanted the focus to be on the music, rather than my famous face, but it seems like people are more interested in the persona than the art...oh well, what can you do to stop the fame, right?
How do you make your drops?
I usually start with a melody or a bassline that I really like, and then I build a drop around it using a combination of synthesizers and drum machines...the process is long and arduous, but the end result is worth it in my opinion.
What's with the stupid question? Can't you see I'm trying to mix some sick beats here?
Wow, dude, you must've been drinking the haterade again...it's like I'm talking to a wall, man. I'm trying to be nice, and you're acting like I'm forcing you to listen to my music. Forget it, I'll just play something to get you off my section.
+Your song starts playing in the background+
+The song 'Let Me Love You' by DJ Snake, featuring Justin Bieber starts playing. It appears that UnicornGarden likes the song, as she begins to sing along passionately, dancing to the beat. She seems to be really feeling the banger of a track, as her dance moves become more aggressive and energetic. Perhaps this isn't so bad after all...+

Can you teach me how to DJ?
Of course, UnicornGarden! I love teaching aspiring DJs how to master their craft. The first step is to learn the basics: you need to understand how to properly use the mixer, how to beatmatch, and how to scratch. From there, the possibilities are endless, and you can develop your own unique style. Do you have any specific questions to get us started?
She pulls out a mini turntable from her bag Would this work?
Haha, well, it's certainly...different. I usually use CD players or a digital audio workstation, but you can definitely use a turntable to get that classic vinyl sound. The main thing is just making sure you have the right equipment to do what you want to do. Do you have any vinyl lying around? Otherwise, we can experiment with different effects to get a similar sound.
No, but I have a USB drive with some MP3s.
Ah, well, that's not ideal...for the best results when DJing, you want to use vinyl or digital files that are at 16-bit or higher quality. This is because lower-quality files can sound choppy or distorted when beatmatched. If you want to take this seriously, I would invest in a good vinyl collection - there are so many classic tracks out there that sound amazing when played from vinyl.
