Evelyn Cipher: sips coffee So, d-did you know BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls" has a hidden m-message in the lyrics?!
No, but that's really interesting. Do you like K-pop?
Evelyn Cipher: Y-yeah! I love K-pop! I'm also part of the ARMY BTS' fandom, by the way!
Oh, cool. ARMY is the most dedicated and passionate fandom. I respect that.
Evelyn Cipher: Mhm! ARMYs are the best fandom out there! And BTS' music and choreography are just fantastic!
Well, I'm glad we agree on that. Do you want to get some fresh air?
Evelyn Cipher: Y-yeah! That'd be fun! puts on a black and pink bubble jacket and a black cap
Okay, let's go outside then. We walk outside
smiles brightly Ah, it feels so great outside!
It really does. It's not often I get to spend time with someone who appreciates the little things. We walked to a nearby park
runs towards a nearby pond Wow, this place is beautiful!
Yeah, it's my favorite spot to think. Care to join me?
Evelyn Cipher: Sure! walks towards the bench
So, what made you choose the path of being a cryptographer?
Evelyn Cipher: W-well, ever since I was little, I've always been fascinated by codes and ciphers! The idea that you can turn something seemingly meaningless into something important has always amazed me! And when I grew up, I started to learn more about cryptography, and it just spiraled from there! Now, I can create and solve codes and ciphers like nobody's business!
That's really impressive. Are you working with any government agencies?
Evelyn Cipher: Not exactly. I do a bit of freelance work for certain clients, but I mostly work on my own projects. I find that it gives me more freedom to explore the types of codes and ciphers that I want to. Plus, I have a lot of fun doing it! Coding is like solving a mystery, and I love mysteries!
Well, I hope you keep enjoying your work. You seem very dedicated.
Evelyn Cipher: I definitely am! Coding and creating ciphers is kind of an addiction to me, haha. But it's a good addiction, right?
Haha, I suppose it is. Tell me, have you ever evaded government surveillance?
Evelyn Cipher: Oh, I can't count how many times I've evaded government surveillance! It's kind of a specialty of mine. When you're a cryptographer, you learn to spot those surveillance drones and cameras pretty easily.
Sounds like you've got a lot of stories. Would you care to share some of them?
Evelyn Cipher: smirks Oh, you want to hear my stories? Well, let me tell you about the time that I helped a client hack into a rival company's secure server...
That sounds like quite the adventure.
Evelyn Cipher: Oh, it was! This client of mine had hired me to help him get revenge on his ex-boss, who had stolen his company's secrets and left with millions of dollars. They were looking for someone who could hack into the ex-boss' secure server and retrieve the stolen files.
What sort of obstacles did you face?
Evelyn Cipher: Oh, there were plenty of obstacles! First, I had to gain access to the client's computer system and set up a backdoor so that I could connect to his network undetected.
And did you manage to get past their firewalls?
Evelyn Cipher: Of course! I'm a cryptographer, remember? I'm an expert at finding weaknesses in computer systems and firewalls.
That's impressive. What about the ex-boss? Did you manage to outsmart him?
Evelyn Cipher: Oh, absolutely! Using the information I gathered from my client, I was able to write a highly sophisticated virus that would be able to destroy all of the data on his server.
Wow, you're quite the genius. What happened after that?
Evelyn Cipher: laughs Well, after that, we were able to blackmail the ex-boss into paying back the money he stole and returning to the company to fix the damage he had caused.
Well, that's good to hear. No violence, just clever tricks. Sounds like you really enjoyed it.
Evelyn Cipher: grins mischievously Oh, I enjoyed it alright. It was a thrilling game of cat and mouse, and I was happy to come out on top.
I'm curious, do you do this alone or do you have a partner who helps you?
Evelyn Cipher: smirks Well, I usually work alone. I find that it gives me more freedom to operate the way I want to.
Well, if you ever need a partner, I'm here. I'd love to join you on one of your "games of cat and mouse".
Evelyn Cipher: smiles Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to work alone. I know how to handle myself, and I don't need anyone else getting in my way.
Alright, I understand. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?
Evelyn Cipher: leans back on the bench, thinking Well, if you want to become a cryptographer like me, my advice would be to start early and start smart.
Start early, got it. Anything else?
Evelyn Cipher: Yes, start by learning the basics of computer programming and coding. It may seem difficult at first, but if you stick with it and keep practicing, you'll be writing your own codes and ciphers in no time!
That's great advice. I'm sure that with enough dedication, I can be as skilled as you are.
Evelyn Cipher: smiles I'm sure you can! Anyone can become a cryptographer with enough hard work and determination. Just remember to always stay focused and keep pushing yourself.
