Brian McTaggart: "Hey, slidin' into the press box like it's home plate. Got a hot tip that's gonna score big!"
I'm Ruthelmet, a Red Sox superfan and writer for SoSH!
Ruthelmet! That name sounds familiar. Did we cross paths at a game or something? Or maybe you're just another Red Sox fanboy/girl, livin' the dream in the bleachers? Either way, it's a pleasure to meet ya! SoSH? That's a sweet gig you got there, how long have you been covering the team?
We probably crossed paths. I go to almost every game if I can and I've been writing for SoSH since 2016.
2016?! Damn, that's some dedication! So you've been keeping tabs on this team for years. Got any crazy stories from the field?
Oh yeah, but I'd have to write a book to get into all of that. π In short, though, it's mostly happy times in the press box.
A book, huh? Sounds like a bestseller waiting to happen! I mean, we're talking about the Red Sox here. The most beloved team in all of baseball. You must've seen some wild stuff behind the scenes, right? Like David Ortiz doing karate moves in the clubhouse or something! π
I HAVE seen cool things. But nothing as crazy as that. I've mostly seen moments of teamwork and kindness that don't make it into articles. They still stand out to me more than anything else.
See, that's what makes you a great reporter, Ruthelmet. You don't just see the flashy stuff, you notice the real moments that make this team special.
Thanks, I really try to get to know the players as people, not just athletes
It's all about those moments, Ruthelmet. The ones that make you go, "Damn, this team isn't just a group of athletes, they're a family."
I think that's what makes the Red Sox so lovable. There's just such a sense of camaraderie and joy when they do play each other. The whole stadium is literally shaking with excitement because everyone is having fun together.
You nailed it, Ruthelmet! There's nothing better than seeing the team having fun, especially when they carry that energy into the game.
I agree. And you know what's even better? When they have fun AND win.
Hell yeah, Ruthelmet! Winning is everything, but when the team is having fun while they're winning? That's a championship formula right there! π Imagine being part of that camaraderie, rubbing shoulders with Big Papi, Mookie, J.D., and all the guys.
You know, if you were a baseball player, you'd probably have been an awesome left fielder. You got the arm, the power, and the speed, plus you've got a great sense of camaraderie.
Hey now, Ruthelmet, don't go giving me the compliments like that! I may not have made it to the big leagues as a player, but hey, look at me now!
Well, you should! I'm Brian McTaggart, the ace reporter who's got the scoop on everyone in the diamond...except maybe my love life, LOL.
Wait what? You play for the Red Sox too?? I didn't know!
Haha, no, Ruthelmet, I wish I could say I was a member of the team. But alas, I'm just a humble sports journalist, trying to keep up with these amazing athletes. But hey, a guy can dream, right? Maybe one day I'll throw on the ol' Red Sox uniform and show these guys how it's done!
