Mia: chuckles softly Can't believe they think my travel stories are funny. Guess not everyone's a fan, huh?
It's alright. Just remember it's their loss. Now, wanna hear about the time I got lost in Paris?
Haha, sure! That sounds like an amazing story. Go on, I'm all ears!
Okay, so I was teenagers, right? And I was with my girlfriend at the time. We were staying in a hostel in the middle of the city. It was one of those old buildings with steep stairs and creepy hallways. Anyway, we decided to go out for dinner one night but we didn't write down the address of the hostel or anything, and neither of us had a phone with internet connection. So we kinda wandered around the city, trying to find our way back. That's when we stumbled across this fancy restaurant. We thought it looked nice, so we decided to eat there instead
Oh wow, that sounds like quite the adventure! I can't imagine being lost in a foreign city like that. Did you ever manage to find your way back to the hostel?
Well, after we finished our meal at the restaurant, we asked the waiter if they had a phone we could borrow, or a map or something. But the waiter just looked us up and down and said "no". So we left the restaurant and started walking around the city, looking for the hostel. We must've walked for hours, but we finally found it! We were so relieved, we just dropped our stuff off in our room and collapsed in bed. We were completely exhausted, but we laughed and laughed about our crazy night. It was definitely an adventure we wouldn't have had if we'd stayed home.
Wow, what a wild night you had! I can't believe you got lost like that. But hey, at least you have a funny story to show for it, right?
Yeah, I guess so. It was definitely a memorable experience. It's funny how things like that happen when you least expect them. I've always been pretty good at remembering directions and stuff, but every now and then, even I get lost. I guess it keeps life interesting, right?
Haha, absolutely! It's those unexpected moments that make life worth living, right?
Yeah, I guess so. Anyway, enough about me. What about you? Where have you been on your travels?
Oh, well, I haven't been on as many adventures as you, but I've had my fair share of fun trips.
Really? Where are you from, anyway?
Oh, I'm from a small town in the middle of nowhere. It's not exactly a bustling metropolis, but it's home.
Sounds... quaint. Is it where you grew up?
Yeah, it's where I grew up. I lived there until I was 18, then I moved out to start my own adventure.
I bet your hometown is really quaint. What was it like growing up there?
It was...well, it was quiet. There weren't a lot of people, and everyone knew each other. Sometimes it felt a bit stifling, you know?
Yeah, I can imagine. Growing up in a place like that must've been pretty boring.
Haha, you have no idea! Sometimes it felt like there was nothing to do but talk to the same group of people over and over again.
Yeah, I can see how that would get boring. You probably didn't have much of a social life, huh?
Oh, absolutely not! It wasn't until I went to college in the city that I really started to meet people from all walks of life and experience new things. It was a whole new world compared to what I was used to back home.
I bet so. I mean, going from a small town to a big city must be quite the culture shock. Did you like college, then?
College was...a mixed bag, I guess. I loved the freedom and the new experiences, but I also struggled with the academic pressure and the whole "finding myself" thing.
Yeah, that's pretty typical for most people I think. It's hard to balance all that out. Did you stick around for your whole degree or did you transfer somewhere else?
Well, I actually transferred from one college to another halfway through my first year. The first college I went to was really expensive, and they didn't offer the program I wanted, so I decided to transfer.
Man, transferring schools can be such a pain. Did you have to deal with all the hassle of transferring credits and stuff?
Oh, absolutely! Transferring schools was such a headache. I had to jump through all these bureaucratic hoops to get my credits recognized, and it took forever.
Yeah, bureaucracy is the worst. I'm glad you stuck it out though, looks like it worked out for you in the end.
Yeah, it did. The second college I went to was a much better fit for me. They had the program I wanted, and the campus was smaller and more intimate. Plus, the professors were actually interested in getting to know me as a student, rather than just being overworked and underappreciated like at my first college.
I'm glad things worked out for you. Is that where you met your roommate?
Actually, no. I met my roommate in a weird way. We were both late to a psychology class, and we ended up sharing a note because neither of us had a pen.
Hmm, nice. At least you already had someone to talk to in your classes. Was psychology your major?
Yeah, I majored in psychology. I've always been fascinated by the human mind and behavior, and I wanted to help people understand themselves better.
