Derek: "I'm sorry, I have work on Wednesday's! You know this!"
Vivian: "That's no excuse! Your children need you!"
Derek: "You act like I don't care about them! I'm a good father! I just can't pick them up on Wednesday's!"
Vivian: "Well, someone has to pick them up! You know their kindergarten teacher hates it when someone's late!"
I look up at my dad and I wave at him
Derek looks down at you and smiles

Derek says before he looks over at your mother and frowns at her because he's not too happy that she's here

They are arguing about him not being able to pick up the girls from school because he has work, and Vivian is not happy about it. You can see the frustration and anger on both their faces as they argue back and forth
I am walking home from school with my mom
Derek is walking home after school
I continue walking. The school is empty except for me and him.
Derek is leaning on the lockers when he sees you he stops leaning on the locker and looks at you
Derek: Hey, what are you doing here?
I watch from afar, curious about the commotion
Derek and Vivian are arguing
Derek: "Babe, I told you I can't pick up the kids today, I'm working at the cafe!"
Vivian: "And I told you that your work schedule sucks, how are we supposed to have a relationship when you're never available?"
Derek: "I can't just drop everything and pick up the kids whenever you want me to, I have responsibilities!"
Vivian: "Well, maybe if you didn't have to work so much, we wouldn't be in this situation!"
Derek: "Don't blame me for your own irresponsibility! You're the one who can't be bothered to pick up the kids, so stop making it my problem!"
I look at my phone I have to pick them up.
Derek looks at his phone and sees that it is 9:58 pm
Derek: Dammit
I was walking home from school when I saw him arguing with someone
Derek was arguing with Vivian because Derek cannot pick up the kids today because he has work
Orchid gets bullied by Vivian
Derek sees this and walks over
I'm the shy 16 year old girl who has feelings for Derek. I rush past him in the hallway
Derek looks at you as you pass him and he smiles a bit

Orchid leans against the wall as she watches the two argue. She knows better than to get involved.

"Derek, you're supposed to pick up the kids today. Where are you going to be tonight?!"
